Students Are Excited to Return to School
Curriculum Night is Next Week
Parents, your involvement and support are key to a successful school year for every Half Day student. Curriculum Night provides parents/guardians insight into the learning environment, student expectations, grade-level curriculum and more. Please plan to join us!
Third-Grade: 6 p.m. Aug. 27
Fourth-Grade: 7:15 p.m. Aug. 27
Fifth-Grade: 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28
We gather first for a welcome in the cafeteria and then transition to the classrooms. We look forward to seeing you next week!
Just a note to please follow the parking guidelines at and around Half Day School.
Picture Day Information
Our school Picture Day is on Thursday, Aug. 29. Stuart Rodgers will be taking your student's individual picture as well as a classroom picture. Pictures will start promptly at 9:00 a.m.
The picture order form will go home this week in students' backpacks. It can also be found on the school's website News page.
Students should bring the completed picture order form, along with payment to school on or before Picture Day.
The photography company (Stuart-Rodgers Photography) accepts checks, credit cards, and cash (exact amount only, the office/photography company has no change to give).
For students who are absent on picture day or students who wish to have their picture retaken, picture retake day will be Oct. 17.
Remember to wear your best smile to school next Thursday!
Join Half Day Chorus
Half Day Chorus is our singing choral extracurricular group that rehearses twice a week during recess and includes two concerts (Winter & Spring) at Stevenson High School. To join chorus, please fill out the registration form. For more information about the chorus schedule, please read the Chorus Information and Schedule Sheet.
Medications Must be on File with Nurse
Parents must submit forms to the school nurse each year for any medications their child requires while at school.
If your child requires a school nurse to distribute a medication (over the counter and/or prescription); has a food allergy that requires an EpiPen or an inhaler for asthma; or has any other medical concerns, please obtain a signed order from your child's doctor and have an adult bring in the medication to the nurse’s office. Allergy action plans, as well as other forms, can be found on the D103 website under Medication and Management Plans. Please contact your child’s school nurse if you have any questions.
New Website Launched
Student iPads
Fourth and fifth-grade students will begin bringing home school-issued iPads on Monday, Aug. 26. We are excited to begin using this digital tool as part of our learning experiences both at school and at home! Please review the following information regarding routines and care.
Third-graders will also receive their iPads on Monday. They will bring them home at a later date.
Charging Routine
Please help your child set up a charging station to charge their device every day. Talk about a routine for charging the iPad each night and then packing the iPad in a backpack in the morning.
Care
This iPad should remain in the school issued case at all times. Please do not add stickers or any other decorations to the case or iPad.
Please carry the iPad carefully and keep it in safe locations such as away from liquids, pets and off the floor.
If the iPad is experiencing any technical issues, your student should turn the device into the Tech Office at Half Day School.
More information regarding Instructional Technology at District 103 can be found on the Instructional Technology Portal website.
