Ravine Drive Elementary School
May 2020 Newsletter
Interim Principal - Ms. J. Zitarosa
In this time of uncertainty, it is easy to feel overwhelmed because we are not able to control what is happening around us. When I feel that way, I try to remember what is in my control. I know it is going to take a while for things to return to a level of "normalcy" but in the meantime, I choose to project kindness to those around me.
As I enter a food store, I try to make eye contact with people and smile from underneath my mask as I pause before pushing my cart down the narrow aisle. I have discovered that I am able to wait patiently in line, 6 feet away from the nearest person, and still strike up small-talk about how grateful I am to have found specific items in the store. And as I try to balance working from home, running a household, preparing all meals, and teaching my own child, I catch myself smiling. I, too, am overwhelmed, but I know I will miss the day when my child no longer feels the need to interrupt me during a virtual meeting or phone call to show me the most recent "masterpiece" that she has created all over our living room floor!
As we continue to work together in our community, please remember that our school is a resource for you and we are here to offer assistance in many ways.
Stay safe, and be healthy.
