November Newsletter

A look Back

Our students were very busy in October, with volunteering, enrichment events, 11th grade field trip, our 8th grade Open House event, and one of our Freshman, Meeha A. competed at the national level with 3M. Make sure to take a look at our student spotlight, our October picture gallery, and the Council Open House Presentation Below.

A Look Forward

As we head into the last two months of the semester, remember that you need to get your community service hours and enrichment hours turned in. You must have at least 12.5 community service by December 3 and 2 Enrichment Activities by December 14th. I've included the links to upload your community service hours and outside enrichment activities in this newsletter. We will have one more enrichment event this month that will be on campus. There will be no enrichment events on campus in December to allow for studying for final exams.

Our Booster Club will also be hosting a Teacher and Staff appreciation Breakfast on November 29th at Travis High School. If you would like to donate materials for the breakfast, please go to this link to sign up to donate.

We also have a fundraiser going on for the holidays.

The holidays are fast approaching and we’ve got a great place for all your shopping and it benefits the GSA Academy. Miss the craziness of the malls and stores and shop from the comfort of your couch or office. Check out our site through Mixedbags, share it with your friends on email and all of your social media platforms. I’ve already made my holiday list from the site and given it to my husband, no way I get a vacuum this year. Happy shopping!!! Remember it’s for a good cause….your students!

Use the following link to go to our site and send out to family and friends.

Finally we will have our Winter Social on December 14th in the commons from 3:30-6:30. See the flyer and link to RSVP below.

Parents who want to be involved at school! Please complete the FBISD Criminal History Application in order to volunteer at events and on field trips. Studies show that parent involvement is a key to student success. Not to mention it contributes the the family feeling that is the Global Studies Academy. We love having parents there to share in making memories with not only your student but all others as well. We have some great opportunities coming up with the Lock-In in February. Make sure to always report any volunteering hours outside of the school day to the Booster club on a monthly basis. The hours are submitted to the district and logged. The submission form is located in the newsletter. If you have not renewed your membership with our Booster Club, you can do so on-line. Our Booster Club is a key component of our success. It is essential that each of our families join every year!
