Clairemont Musical

This Spring, Clairemont will have its annual 2nd grade musical! The musical will take place on Thursday, April 30th at 6pm, and Friday, May 1st at 1:15pm for the entire school. Disney's The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world and now, for the first time ever, we have the opportunity to produce this one-of-a-kind musical in our school. The African savannah will come to life on our stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle... and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.

In addition to a license to produce the show, The Lion King Experience features a rigorous curriculum designed to introduce our students to a wide range of theatrical skills.

Nurs Huff-Cox Update

The safety of our students and school community is a priority. We are currently monitoring the situation closely and following the guidance of our partners at the Georgia Department of Education, Georgia Department of Public Health, Dekalb Board of Health, and the Dekalb Emergency Management Agency. The most recent information from the CDC regarding COVID-19 can be found in the link below. Additionally, the Georgia Department of Education has a document for schools, Pandemic Planning: Information for Georgia Public School Districts that can be useful in planning for a pandemic event.

At this time, the same recommendations are encouraged to prevent the spread of any respiratory virus:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

• Stay home when you are sick.

• Cough or sneeze into your elbow or use a tissue to cover it, then throw the tissue in the trash.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Current information is available on the homepage of the CSD website and we will continue to update our website as more information is shared from our partners. As with any potential emergency situation, we will follow our safety protocols and communicate with parents through our email, text, and phone system.

Georgia Parent Survey

The Georgia Parent Survey was developed to measure the school climate at your child’s school. Your opinion is very important to us. The survey link is listed here and below. We are asking that all students, parents, and staff complete this survey. Your survey responses are confidential and will be combined with the survey responses of other parents at your child’s school to identify areas in need of improvement. It should only take ten or fifteen minutes to complete the survey. The survey has 24 questions. We encourage all parents to complete this survey because the data is used as a piece of the calculation for our school climate rating score. The answers are anonymous they are reported directly to the Georgia Department of Education. The survey is translated into Spanish for those who need the Spanish version, please select the Spanish version with in the survey. If you don't have internet access at home, then you can come to the school to complete the survey in the media center.Thank you for the support in getting this task done for our school.

IDEA Parent Survey

The IDEA Parent Survey will be open from January 15, 2020 – May 31, 2020.

The IDEA Parent Survey helps the state to determine parents’ perception of the success of parent engagement between the local school and themselves. The information is gathered as a component of the State Performance Plan, Indicator 8: Percent of parents with a student receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving results for children with disabilities. The data collected is reported in the Annual Performance Report and on the system profile about each system. Each state is required to conduct a parent survey collection process to measure parent/family needs and perceptions.

Georgia’s parent survey is available to all families of students with disabilities. The survey will be administered through an online link and can be found on the websites listed below.
