Updates

We have been busy bees in our classroom this week! There are 19 days left of school and still so much to do! Please continue to keep homework a priority at home to encourage your student's success! Keep reading to see what we've been working on!

Math: Lines and Angles and Shapes OH MY! Unit 8 is proving to be challenging for our students! We have been practicing naming angles, naming shapes and identifying shapes by their characteristics. Please continue to support your student's learning by helping him/her with homework!

Daily 5/Cafe: We are working on a Reader's Theater performance that will take place next Wednesday. Your student should be practicing his/her part each night!

Writing: We have also been working hard on our Biographies that will be presenting starting next Monday! These have been really neat for the students to publish! Your student's work is online, ask him/her for their smore.com link!

Social Studies: Our focus is on immigrants and the specific aspects of the U.S. that brought them here and what they were hoping to achieve. Determination/dedication and perseverance are several of the qualities we have been talking about when considering all of the struggles that immigrants faced. ETHNIC FOOD DAY permission slips are due soon! Think about what you're student would like to make!

Words Their Way: We have 3 more sorts yet to wrap up the school year. Please keep in mind that the sorts each week are not for students to "memorize" their words. It is teaching the students HOW words are made and to try to get them to learn about the patterns and then apply these aspects in their writing. I need to see students consistently overlapping their spelling skills in writing too!

Next week students are working on their Greek and Latin packets unit 4!

SNOWBALL FIGHT!

This week we had some fun on a hot day and practiced recognizing adverbs, verbs and homophones in a fun snowball fight game!

ASK YOUR CHILD WHAT HIS OR HER MAP GOAL IS! Log on to our site to practice!
