This Week's Agenda: Poetry Projects and Essay Reflections
The Pre-AP students were assigned a poetry project last Thursday. Students have been given four days in class to work on the project and the final project is due on Monday, February 27th. If your student seems overloaded with work this weekend, please know they were given enough class time to finish more than half of the project. For your convenience, I have attached a copy of the project so you are aware of the expectations. This project will be a test grade this six weeks. Points will be deducted for late submissions.
On Thursday and Friday, we will work on evaluating essays and receiving mini-lessons in weaknesses I've noticed in their writing.

LATE WORK:
Many students are getting very lax in turning in assignments on time. I explained to the students they are Pre-AP and should take their studies seriously. I give plenty of time and notice for assignments, as well as communicate with reminds. This semester, I will be holding the students to the grading policy. Points will be deducted for late work that is not tied to an absence and no more than three late assignments will be accepted in a grading period. Please help your child have a system for studies and homework so they can stay on track.
IMPORTANT DATES:
Spring Break: March 13 - 17
English I STAAR EOC Exam: March 28
Donations needed: High schools students like treats just as much as younger students, and who doesn't enjoy some candy during work time. I love providing my students with sweet treats or salty treats, but with 170+ students, it gets a bit pricey. I would like to request families to donate bags of candy, chocolate candy, or hard candy, and/or large boxes of gold fish, pretzels, or cheez-its. These are small incentives I can give for students who put forth their best effort.
