Ms. Wold's World News
News and Updates From Room 2
What We Learned This Week
Writing - We worked on a descriptive writing piece this week about pop rocks (check out the pictures below). The kiddos had a great time trying pop rocks and describing how they looked, smelled, tasted and felt. We also brainstormed some similes (the pop rocks exploded in my mouth like ____________.) Their finished copies will be up in the classroom for you to read during conferences next week.
Math - We started out reviewing the different coins and their values and then found the total value of groups of coins. We learned that to find the total value you should order the coins from greatest value to least value.
A Note From Ms. Wold
I am looking forward to meeting with you next week. If you haven't already done so, please go the the google doc and sign-up. I will be sending home a reminder note the day before. I am excited to share how your kiddo is doing in school, share ways that you can support them at home as well as discuss any questions or concerns that you have.
Next Thursday October 15th we will have a Read-In Day. Your kiddos are welcome to wear pajamas to school, no slippers though (they must wear shoes in case we have to leave the building). They may also bring a small stuffed animal or pillow. We will spend our morning reading. If you are able to send in a snack for our morning that would be wonderful. Things like muffins and fruit would be great. I will provide warm apple cider, one of my favorite fall treats.
I am also attaching links to some of our favorite websites. Tumblebooks is a site that has hundreds of stories read aloud and animated. The username is Bayshorelibrary and the password is books. Spelling City is a website that has games and activities to help practice spelling words. Just search for "Robin Wold" and you will find our most recent spelling lists.
