McGuire Expectations

Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible

Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible

McGuire students have been learning all about how to be safe, respectful, and responsible around the school. We are focusing on what it looks like to follow the school expectations and how to help our school be the best it can be for all learners, all the time. Feel free to review these expectations with your child at home. Ask them what they have been reviewing at school and how to be safe, respectful and responsible in the different areas around the school.

PLEASE HELP OUR SCHOOL!

Hello Families,

Your child brought home a Parent Information Envelope letting you know about a safe and easy way for our school to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed.

The SchoolStore fundraiser is 100% online so there is NO face-to-face selling, handling money, or delivering products. Your participation will take less than 12 minutes, and there are exciting prizes to make it fun for the students.

Here is all you need to do to participate:

1. Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/cgi/SetSchool?SchoolID=0000363158&secheck=on

sign up.

School ID: 0000363158

2. Send form emails inviting family, friends and co-workers to support your child.

3. Return the Envelope with the Student Prize Code to school for your child to get their fun participation prize.

Be sure to ask your child for the Parent Envelope tonight. Your participation will make a difference for our school and teachers!

Thanks,

McGuire Elementary School

NO early drop off until 8:35am

Please make sure to wait until 8:35 before dropping off your student to the playground or in front of the school. We do not have supervision until 8:35 and we want to make sure everyone is safe. Thanks you for your cooperation and help keeping all of our Mustangs safe.

If you drop off after 8:50, please be sure to come into the office to sign your student in for the day before leaving. If you drop off your student to come in without an adult, we will have to call you to come back and sign them in. Unless you sign your student in at the office, the tardy or absence will not be verified which could negatively impact the attendance record, leading to truancy. Thanks!

Please label your student's items

We would love to see our lost & found items claimed, but also to keep the lost & found to a minimum. Families can help us by LABELING EVERYTHING!

Use a permanent marker to label your child's name on lunchboxes, school supplies, backpacks, water bottles, child's clothes (utilize the inside tags of sweatshirts, jackets, shoes, and snowpants). We will periodically check labels and post pictures of items to be claimed - check out the McGuire Facebook page.

Send an extra pair of clothes to stay in your student's locker, place in a ziplock bag or plastic grocery bag, label with their name.

autism awareness & acceptance lessons with cmu

CMU is excited to partner with Fancher and McGuire during the 2022-2023 school year to provide Autism Awareness and Acceptance Lessons to all 4th and 5th grade students. These lessons were already provided to our current 3rd graders last year in the DK-2 buildings.

The lessons will occur monthly beginning this past week. They have been generously funded by the Organization for Autism Research. Lessons will include specific information regarding autism, including how to be aware of the needs of peers with autism, in addition to focusing on the acceptance of differences and similarities of all students.

In addition to the formal lessons, books about children with autism will be read to each class and these books will be donated to the school libraries at the end of the academic year for students to check out and share with family members and friends.

You may check out the following link for more details about the lessons: Kit for Kids | Organization for Autism Research (researchautism.org). If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact AnnMarie Bates at bates4al@cmich.edu or 989-774-5899.

End of Day Schedule Change

If you have any late changes to your student’s regular routine for the end of the day, then please write the change in the student agenda. All of our teachers utilize these on a daily basis, so this is a great way to communicate with your teacher. If the change occurs after the school day has begun, then please try to call the office by 3:00 p.m. so we can relay the message in a timely manner. Thanks in advance!

Popcorn

We will have popcorn every Friday for 50 cents per bag. Hope you enjoy it!

Volunteering at McGuire

If you are considering helping out at our building or on any field trips this year, then you will need to complete our volunteer form first. Get this out of the way now so you don't have to worry about it in the future!

Fidgets, Toys, Pokemon Cards

We love that our kids have toys at home to enjoy and we ask that students leave their toys at home. We want to make sure that toys are not broken and misplaced so please make sure that all toys are at home to enjoy and students can enjoy active play at school during their recesses and breaks.
