A Letter From Shannon 4/14/23
There is so much to celebrate commencing our week of state testing. Our 3rd-6th grade students showed great tenacity, focus and perseverance throughout their tests and truly showcased a desire to do their best. The skills that our students practice on tests like CMAS far out weigh just the outcome of their test results. They learn to persevere through hard things; they learn to take pride in doing their best work and they learn that taking ownership of their learning means to take their performance seriously. We are now officially in the home stretch of the school year, always measured by the end of CMAS. Next on the docket will be our end of the year diagnostic assessments that will measure student growth for the school year. We are a very data focused school and use these data points to help us make the best instructional decisions we can for our students. We believe in a body of evidence, not just one data point, but we know that our iReady Diagnostics do give us a pretty good picture of our kids over the course of a school year because we administer them at 3 different points in the year. Part of learning and growing as a student is understanding that our academic data is important. It shows what we have a strong command of as a learner as well as where some of the learning gaps are. We are always so grateful when these conversations can start at home with you, helping your kids understand and value their data and truly engage in their assessments in a way that allows them to try their best so that we can all see the fantastic growth they have all made academically this school year. We kick off our end of the year diagnostics on Tuesday, April 25th. Thank you in advance for starting those conversations now so that our kids know that we are all invested in their growth and progress and can't wait to seem them show off all of the great things they have learned this year!
