Music Department Concerts
AMS Christmas Vespers Vocal Concert is Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 7:00pm. The performers will rehearse during hours 6, 7 and STAR on Tuesday, December 14 and again from 8-9:15 on Dec. 15. This concert will combine the AMS and AHS vocal students to perform beautiful holiday music - both secular and sacred. This concert will also feature a 4th/5th grade "honor" choir! An added bonus will be the "Singers Christmas Market" which will be open before and after the concert. AHS students will have baked goods/craft items for sale to raise funds for their trip to NYC in March. Plan to pick up some last minute Christmas gifts to support these awesome kids!
7th & 8th grade vocal students will tour Abilene's retirement and nursing communities mid-day on Thursday, Dec. 16
AMS Band Concert is Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2:00. Band students will rehearse during the day on Friday, Dec. 10.
Fundraiser!
The items will be in the second week of December, and if that changes, I will let you know.
Kansas Communities that Care Survey
Leadership Teams
Library leadership - started a "Masked Reader" interactive bulletin board in the main hallway
Uplift leadership - implemented hygiene boxes in the ladies restrooms and has been selecting the Uplifting Students of the Week
Kindness leadership - working on a Kindness Raffle to recognize students choosing to be kind - however, this is a secret from the students and only teachers can nominate a winner - because the students want to truly honor students for being kind on their own, without a motivation ;)
Elementary Pals leadership - made cards for K-1 students and visited Kennedy for lunch/recess
Birthday leadership - have all the birthday signs caught up for teacher birthdays; have birthday cards ready for student birthdays in December and will begin working on supplies for January
Builder's Club leadership - working on a service project implementation
Sister City leadership - sent letters to the middle school students in our Sister City - Omitama, Japan explaining Halloween and Thanksgiving and included some American candy for them to taste. Next, they are working on Christmas ornaments to share
Trivia leadership - working on collecting trivia questions from all content areas to use with Scholar's Bowl (prepare for competitions)
