POLLUTION
WHAT IS POLLUTION
Pollution: is the introduction of harmful substances or products into the environment:
AIR POLLUTION
Air pollution is a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air. Car emissions, chemicals from factories, dust, pollen and mold spores may be suspended as particles. ozone, a gas, is a major part of air pollution in cities.
this is a couple of examples of air pollution but they are the most threatening these days .
WATER POLLUTION
water pollution occurs when pollutants (particles, chemicals or substances that make water contaminated) are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without enough treatment to get rid of harmful compounds. examples of this would be .....
- Nutrients Pollution
- Oil Spillage
- Ocean and marine dumping
- littering
- plastics
GROUND / SOIL POLLUTION
The main reason why the soil becomes contaminated is due to the presence of man made waste. The waste produced from nature itself such as dead plants, carcasses of animals and rotten fruits and vegetables only adds to the fertility of the soil. However, our waste products are full of chemicals that are not originally found in nature and lead to soil pollution. such as
- Industrial Activity(mining and manufacturing activities)
- Waste Disposal(POOP)
- Oil Spills
NOISE POLLUTION
(harmful or annoying levels of noise, as from .)
- airplanes
- industries
- cities
- cars
- talking
LAWS
P2 law
In 1990, Congress passed the Pollution Prevention Act which states: "the Environmental Protection Agency must establish a source reduction program which collects and disseminates information, provides financial assistance to States, and implements the other activities...." so as you can see based on this article and the Simpsons movie, EPA has been a very effective agency that has contributed greatly to reducing pollution.
WHAT I CAN DO TO HELP ?
5 things i can do ....
- litter less
- clean the yard
- recycle more !
- waste less paper
- stop taking most things for granted
WHAT IF ?
If these precautions are not taken (most of them aren't ) then our lakes would be polluted there would be garbage along the roads and plastic would be polluting our water because it can never truly dissolve without doing harm to the environment .
