As we get deeper into our unit on theme and narrative writing, we encourage you to check out our unit sites. Kiddos have access to them on Google Classroom. There are many links to activities and games to practice standards we are learning in class. They are a fantastic resource for those wishing to improve grades!

Power Standards for the Quarter:
RL1D (fiction): Using appropriate text, determine the theme(s) of a text and analyze its development over the course of a text; provide an objective summary of the text.
RI1D (non-fiction): Explain the central/main idea(s) of a text and explain the relationship between the central idea(s) and supporting evidence; summarize the text distinct from personal opinions.
RI1B (Vocabulary): Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in the text, including figurative, connotative, and content-specific meanings using context, affixes, or reference materials. [Specifically focusing on context clues]
Writing: Use a given process to create clear expository writing that is developed, and organized for the task; including style, voice, purpose, and audience.
Math
This week in math we will continue Unit 3: Measuring Circles. Please see the Family Materials for Unit 3 to review important vocabulary and see sample problems that you can do with your student at home. Unit 2 scores were returned to students. Students may make test corrections and request a retake to improve scores. We will be taking our Unit 3: Measuring Circles post test on 11/13/19.
