Mass Reflections
In the homily, the priest talked about what we want to be when we grow up. The priest said that we have all received the gift of grace and that we all have talents. He talked about how we should use the gift of grace and be unique in our own ways. He also talked about how we are created to be good people and to be what we want to be whether it is a teacher, a leader, or even an astronaut. We are all unique and special in our own way. - 6B Sophie
Father Joseph said that all of us had the grace of God. He said that the grace of God could be our talents like art, math, reading, and music. God gave us special talents so everyone could be unique in their own way. These gifts from God define who we are. So we have to thank God for everything he has done for us. - 6B Brandan

New Parent Support Program: Navigating the First Years at SJCS
I am excited to announce that our SJCS PTO is hosting it’s first annual New Parent Support Program: Navigating the First Year at St. Joseph! This program is being created by parents that have transitioned to SJCS!
We recognize that the transition to St. Joseph Catholic School is a big one, not only for your child, but for your family. Depending on when your child starts at SJCS, we could be your partner in educating your child(ren) for as long as 11 years! While most days your child spends more of his/her waking hours at school than he/she does at home with you, it is our goal to make the most of this relationship. We hope you feel the same.
We are launching this program on Monday, September 18th! We recognize that your schedules vary, and since we want as many of our new families to participate as possible, we are offering two sessions on the 18th. I hope you will make it a priority to join us in the parish center at either 8am or 6pm. At 8am, we will offer donuts and coffee. Come spend some time with us before your day gets busy. If evenings work better for your family, we are offering babysitting for your child(ren) and will bring in pizza and drinks for the students and parents.
During this Seminar that should last between 45 minutes and an hour, you will hear directly from parents and staff of SJCS. This will be different than the Orientation meetings you’ve attended in the past several weeks. Topics will include:
- Introduction and School Overview. Grow in your understanding of our school’s culture with a brief overview of our SJCS mission, values, history, and academic programs.
- Academic Support. SJCS is a school of excellence with high academic standards and rigor. How do you help your child succeed academically while maintaining a balanced home life?
- Spiritual Growth. Explore the role of faith in the education of your child. Understand how SJCS integrates spiritual development into the curriculum and ways you can foster a faith filled environment in your home.
- Social Integration. SJCS is much more than academics. How can you encourage your child’s social interaction within the school community. How do parents build a social community with fellow parents at SJCS? Learn tricks to navigating some of our most popular activities/events: Fall Fest, Sweets with Santa, Mother Son Bowling, Daddy Daughter Dance, Grandparents’ Day, etc.
- Wellness and Support Services. Explore the school’s wellness programs and support services available to students (academic testing, SOAR program, Resource, Title One, Guidance services). Discuss strategies for nurturing your child’s emotional well-being and seeking assistance when needed.
- Parent Involvement Opportunities. We will highlight ways parents can get involved in school activities. Understand ways that parents can be active participants at SJCS to strengthen the sense of community and make children feel that their parents are there for them. And more.
Parents in attendance will earn a service hour for their time. We ask that you please rsvp using the link below. This will help us to know how many staff members we need for free babysitting and determine amount of food to have on hand.
Again, I hope you will join us. I am grateful to the parents who have created this opportunity for fellow parents. I look forward to our time together and assure you it will be well worth it! I will see you there!
