Shout Outs
Thank you Mrs. Broudy for your group's contribution to the Zen Den! The Stacy Broudy's Bunko Group rocks!
Ms. Terry, Mrs. Day, and Mrs. Melone, your assistance is greatly appreciated with the holiday donations for our students!
I would like to put in kudo for Susan Baumgardner and Tricia Rogerson. They are amazing co workers who strive to do everything they can for our staff and students. It is a pleasure to be a part of the Literacy team. Merry Christmas to all.
Thank you to my amazing 4th and 5th grade team for being you! I just LOVE coming to work with y’all and the students everyday!
Thanks to 4th grade for supporting 5th graders during our 1st ever Egg Drop! Thank you to my 5th grade peeps for making this project so much fun and engaging for your students!
Thank you to Matt and Teri for getting up there on the roof for our kiddos! It was such a success! Thank you to Dan for helping us make it all happen! We truly created a memorable experience for our students!
Thank you to Roth for bringing the egg drop to Lynnhaven! It was SO much fun to see the students get excited about scientific investigation.
A Note to All
I have, by far, the BEST work family there is. Thank you everyone for your well wishes, prayers, text messages, emails, and phone calls. Ms. Hamilton, our Hospitality Queen, thank you for the beautiful flowers. Thank you Mrs. Day and Specialists for the get well cards. With all that has happened before and after this surgery, my work family has been the BEST support anyone can ask for. A HUGE THANK YOU to Mr. Gunning for all you have done and continue to do for me and Shaylah. I appreciate you so much. THANK YOU Ms. Jackson for being at the hospital before and after my surgery. She even made sure Shaylah had dinner that night. Thank you Mrs. Christmas, Ms. Umphlette, Ms. Ballard, Ms. Roth, Mr. Johnson, and former Lynnhaven Lions - Ms. Williams and Mr. Q for spending time with me last week while I was confined to my home. For someone to not have any other blood related family members in this state other than her daughter and a husband who’s deployed, there are no amount of words to express my gratitude and appreciation. You’ve all played a significant role in ensuring my recovery will be a speedy one. I am humbled by your generosity, thankful for your support, and so blessed to have you all as friends & family. Love, BT

Teacher of the Year Nominees
Nicole Buse
As an advocate for all children, Mrs. Buse brings her expertise of meeting the needs of all students. Her desire to learn new strategies is never ending. Despite what life throws at her, she is always on her A-game every day!
Whitney Gonzalez
Mrs. Gonzalez is a risk taker who thrives in a setting of having fun and working collaboratively to meet the needs of students. Moving from kindergarten to 5th grade was quite a jump, yet Mrs. Gonzalez has made it look like a piece of cake.
Heather Hauser
Mrs. Hauser is an instructional powerhouse and plans and delivers lessons that align with current educational practices. She immerses herself into research behind instruction and then delivers the results. Speaking of results...if she isn't satisfied with an outcome, she is persistent to make it better.
Devon Johnson
Building positive relationships with students is Mr. Johnson's strength. He recognizes the power in connecting with students first. His positive energy also permeates through the school at Lions League pep rallys where students look forward to his message each month (and the Lion costume!).
Jenna Roberts
Mrs. Roberts has a love of teaching and instructional technology. She is passionate about teaching and has lead our students for the last few years as the STEM Robotics mentor. Her desire to merge traditional and new strategies within her classroom is evident as her expertise of technology is embedded.
Tatjana Roth
Most coaches take on one subject and become an expert, but Mrs. Roth has taken on TWO! Her leadership as a math and science coach has not only moved the needle with instructional knowledge at Lynnhaven but has also made a difference in the academic success of students. Her leadership skills are many, but her greatest strength is to build a positive connection with teachers first and then dive deeply into pedagogy. In addition to her leadership for continued academic success, she is part of the SEL committee and is committed to making Lynnhaven the best place to learn for students and the best place to teach for teachers. This summer she shared her creative talents to adorn the walls with positive messages. She is always thinking of how to make our school the best at the Beach!
Congratulations to Mrs. Roth, Teacher of the Year, and Mr. Johnson, Distinguished Educator of the Year!
PBIS & SEL
A big shout out to our SEL committee for meeting to begin planning to transform room 25 as well as begin to discuss resources needed for classrooms. We look forward to the end result soon!
As a reminder, returning from January after break is often tough for students. Please be mindful of those tough transitions. It is also a great time to reinforce the GRRR code through lessons and rebooting your classroom structures.
By our next faculty PD on Wednesday, January 15th, , please read chapters 5 and 6 of Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain.
