DAILY GENESIS REPORTING

As we begin the start of this school year, we are faced with the unique challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.


First, let me assure you that the health and safety of our students and faculty is our top priority. The administration, faculty, and staff of St. Charles Borromeo School are continually working toward this goal, but we cannot do it alone. We must partner with you to ensure a safe learning environment. To that end, we have developed two forms in our Genesis Parent Portal that we will require parents/guardians to complete.


The first form identifies whether your child(ren) has travelled, within 14 days of the start of school, to a state currently on the NJ Quarantine List. You will only need to fill this form out once. You must complete this form by August 31. Be sure to check the most recent quarantine list.


The second form is a daily temperature/symptom check. This will be completed each day and will identify if your child(ren) has a fever and/or displays symptoms/conditions for Covid-19. Because we require this information prior to the start of the school day, please log onto the portal and complete this form by 7:30 AM each day.


Each of these forms is located in our Genesis Parent Access. Below are instructions for completing these forms:

  • Log onto Parent Access
  • Click on Forms (located at the top/center of the page). The forms page will display available forms for all children attached to the account.
  • Click on the form name
  • Use the drop-down menu to answer the question(s)


There is now an option to add Genesis to your mobile phone home screen. Directions are provided below.

Pack Extra Supplies

Each child should have a small pencil pouch or other small container to hold personal hand sanitizer, a spare face mask, and tissues. This should be stored in their bookbag or in their personal workspace/desk in the classroom. Replenish the sanitizer and tissues regularly.

Help Your Child Adjust to Back to School

REMOTE LEARNING

Some children will participate in remote learning at the request of their parents. All students now have a St. Charles School Google email address in Gmail. Everyone should access this email address so any issues may be resolved before the start of school. Our teachers use Google Classroom for remote learning so it is important that you are able to properly navigate this platform.


The first few days will require the teachers and students who are in person in the school to learn and practice many new procedures. This may mean the teachers are not able to also be online with the remote students as much as you may expect during school hours. They will connect daily with their remote students on a daily basis. We are still preparing the school to best handle all teachers broadcasting from their classrooms at the same time. Thank you for your patience as these things are put into place. You will hear from your child's teacher(s) next week with specifics about their classes. Please understand that starting a school year using remote instruction is new for everyone. There will be growing pains, but we are committed to working through them and providing the best learning experience possible for all our children.

WE NEED YOUR PERMISSION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

You will find the Technology Acceptable Use Policy , the Photography Permission, the Student/Family Handbook, and the Family Information Form documents below.

There will be a place for you to indicate your agreement with the Acceptable Use of Technology and Student/Family Handbook documents in Genesis once school begins.


The Photography Permission form is a fillable document you should complete and email to your child's teacher. A form is required for every student.


One Family Information Form is to be submitted per family. Completed forms are to be emailed to Mrs. Glass at mglass@scbpschool.com.

CARES Program

Our CARES program (childcare before and after the school day) will begin on Tuesday, September 8th. We are creating electronic forms and developing an online method of fee payment in order to continue with our efforts to keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Details will be ready early next week.

  • Be sure your child can access his/her Gmail account


FORMS

  • Complete and email PHOTO PERMISSION FORM to your child(ren)’s teacher
  • Complete and email the FAMILY INFORMATION FORM to Mrs. Glass at mglass@scbpschool.com.


Read and Review

Read and review the Technology Acceptable Use and Student/Family Handbook documents with your child(ren). Plan to respond to the forms that will be available on Genesis once school begins. The Diocese of Trenton must post those forms for us.


Supplies

Be sure your child has a small pouch/container with personal hand sanitizer, spare face mask, and a supply of tissues.
