DSF Summer Update
June 2014-things to think about & important dates
Please Respond:
Hello All,
I have only heard from 2 Fellows regarding the questions below. Please respond no later than tomorrow at 11:59pm. If you need an extension, simply communicate your need via email to mcgraveym@denison.edu. Thank you!
What I need from you all by July 1st is the following:
1) What will you do to personally take ownership of your role within the Sustainability Fellows Program?
2) Drew mentioned that many leaders at Denison are visionaries rather than people who DO. How will you contribute to the Fellows Program through ACTION rather than simply a great Vision?
3) Megan mentioned that we are not always aware of our Strengths. What do you see as your Strength? What strengths do you wish to work on/develop throughout the year?
4) Time management is a struggle for many students at Denison. What will you do in the academic year 2014-2015 to better manage your time and role model positive time management?
Please email your responses to mcgraveym@denison.edu NO LATER than July 1st. If you need an extension, please communicate your extension needs prior to June 15th.
Thank you!

FIRST FELLOWS MEETING OF THE YEAR: WEDNESDAY AUGUST 27th 6:00pm, Fellows Room!
Move in...
Residential Fellows may be returning to campus early to meet up with their Resident Assistants, create Bulletin Boards, provide information about the Green Audits, put sustainability information throughout the halls, and consider programming for the Fall Semester.
ARRIVAL DATES:
Residential Fellows: Arrive Morning of Thursday August 21st. Dinner will be at 5:00pm and training will begin after dinner.
Campus Fellows: Arrive anytime after 12pm on Friday August 22nd. Training will start at 9:30am on Saturday August 23rd. (Note: Dinner is on your on on Friday)
You also may be wondering where you are living for the 2014-2015 academic year. Director of Residential Education and Housing, Krsitan Hausman, is working with the housing Coordinator to finalize these details. Because First Year students are not housed until June, you will not be notified of your exact room until late June. Thank you for your patience as we work out the details and make sure all students' housing needs are met.

Have an idea for a training session?
I would like to see the Returning Fellows play more of a role in Training throughout the year. Rather than have a long August Training, we will be doing some training during our first FOUR meetings of the Semester. These meetings will be 1.5 hours and they will be very focused meetings. The first training will be completed by me and it will be focused on task related items (such as how to utilize the service center, how to request a print job, how to use a short order form, how to reserve space...). Once I cover the boring stuff, I would like YOU to take ownership of your training. If you would like to lead 1 of the three 1.5 training sessions, please email me no later than June 15th. When you email me I need to know the following:
1) Topic of your training session
2) Supplies needed for your training session
3) Technology needs for your training session
4) How will you assess your training (aka, how will you know if people learned?)
5) Support you will need from me to lead a successful training session
I am excited to hear back from you and I know many of you have experience with peer training, so please do not be shy! You can also pair up and co-facilitate a training session.

Upcoming Projects that need Summer Work:
Planting Program with First Year Students
In our last meeting of the year we discussed having a program during August oriention, or the first week of school, where first year students plant their own flower. I am also thinking we could give each first year room a plant and the roommates would take care of it. Whoever had a plant still thriving at the end of the year would receive a prize. In the process, students could passively learn about taking care of themselves as they care for the plant. It might be a good way to introduce the Fellows to the Class of 2018 while also focusing on wellness. If you are interested in helping with this program, please email me (mcgraveym@denison.edu) NO LATER than JUNE 15th!!!
Class of 2018 Selection
If you are creative and would like to make a recruitment flier to be displayed during June -O and Aug-O, please email your ideas to me ASAP. We need to start spreading the word to the class of 2018 about this great opportunity!!
Remember, we will be hiring 7 RESIDENTIAL FELLOWS from the class of 2018. They will be selected in late September and trained over Fall Break.

Green Audit
Green Audits were rather successful last year, but they were incredibly time consuming. We need to partner with RAs on this initiative. Please note: Residential Fellows (Rob, Olivia and Daniel) will be charged with this task. The RAs will document who has Green products in their room when they are doing Hall Rosters and collecting Room Condition Reports. Please know that Green Audit will be your number one priority when returning to campus!
If you have suggestions on how to improve the Green Audit, or ideas for prizes, please let Molly know by July 1st! Thanks!!!
