Chemistry-8.p.1- Understand the properties of matter and changes that occur when matter interacts in an open and closed container

physical property - when an object can be observed or measured with out changing it.

chemical property- when properties can only be observed during a chemical reaction.

physical change- dose not form a new substance

chemical change- substances are changed to new substance

periodic table- has all the elements in the world for example oxygen and hydrogen. It has vertical lines called groups and horizontal groups called periods

groups and periods- groups are columns that are vertical lines on the periodic table, periods are columns that are horizontal

metals,non-metals and metallioids- metals are on the left metalloids and non metals are combined
Atomic Number, Atomic Mass, Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons- there are three parts of an atom protons, neutrons, (both inside the nucleus) and electrons (outside of nucleus).

the law of conservation of mass states that matter can not be created or destroyed.

vocabulary- mixture-a combination of two or more objects elements- building blocks of matter, solution substance made as a result of a mixture, compound- when to or more elements are chemically combined, matter-liquid, solid and gas, atom- the basic building block for all matter

Earth history

Law of superposition- States that the layers closer to the core of the earth is the oldest

index fossil- a fossil that is useful for because you can tell the temp.
