What is Nationalism?
Nationalism is an intense feeling of patriotism and love of one's country. It one of the main causes of World War I. It is one of the best ways to preserve groups, but it also causes intense competition.
Why did nationalism cause WWI?
Nationalism was one of the causes of WWI because of countries wanting land that other countries had already owned. Nationalist Serbs wanted to get a greater Serbia which included Bosnia and Herzegovina which were both under Austrian control. This nationalist feeling inspired the Black Hand to assassinate Franz Ferdinand.
How did they support countries?
Nationalism gave citizens confidence in their nation. It also convinced them that their country was being threatened by other countries.
