April Massey

Bandytown, West Virginia
What’s the most rewarding thing about what you do?
There are multiple aspects of this job that are rewarding... creating an atmosphere where a very diverse group can feel respected and appreciated for anything they bring to the classroom, making a student feel that "they matter" would be at the top of my list.
Why did you choose this profession?
This profession kind of chose me. I was an MLT before I had my girls. When my youngest went to school, I went with her. I was an assistant for a year, then had a permanent sub position for her Kindergarten class. After that, I knew teaching was what I should have been doing all my life.
What is one thing people might not know about you?
That I am a HUGE MMA fan. l love to watch the fights live!

What profession other than your own would you most like to attempt?
Specialized area of a lab, Microbiology or Hematology.
What is top on your bucket list?
To skydive!

If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
I already have one, I'm a mom AND a teacher.

Screencast-O-Matic: When you’re ready to give screen casting a try, Screencast-O-Matic was one of the first screencasting tools to be published that’ still around. It works with both the Mac and the PC, and requires no installation. There’s a quick demo video on the home page. You can record and host 15 minute clips for free, and create unlimited clips if you have the Pro version, available for just $15 a year.

How to Use Screencast-o-Matic

PowerPoint's Voice Annotation Function

PowerPoint’s Voice Annotation Function: Many teachers use PowerPoint slides as a part of their lecturing process. Adding your voice to these slides is pretty easy to do, turning a presentation from a plain set of slides into a self-contained instructional asset that stands alone. This can be a great way to test the waters with flipped content delivery. Get a quick overview of how easy it is to do this with in this video.
