Quist ROYALS Weekly News
September 16, 2022
Hello, ROYALS!
Overall, we have had a great week here at Quist. Our student athletes performed well on the football field and on the volleyball court this week. There were a few bumps with the delay in today’s trip home for our students attending Outdoor Education and also during the first trip. For those needing more communication about the first trip, please click here. We have our 7th grade trips to look forward to for next week. Thank you to all of our parent chaperones for your help and support!
We have another opportunity for parents to help supervise our Royals during our Day of Awesomeness on September 30th. Please sign up if you are able to help us out. For our students who aren’t able to participate in the activities outside, we are planning indoor activities during that time so that all of our Royals can have fun.
Finally, conferences are coming up! October 10th from 12:30 - 3:00pm, and from 5:00 - 6:30 on Wednesday, October 12th and Thursday, October 13th we will be having virtual conferences. We will send those signup links out next Friday. We are offering an in person arena style conference opportunity on Monday, October 10th from 3:30 - 7:30pm.
One of the things researches have found that make a profound difference in how well kids navigate their time in middle school and beyond is the Family Meal. We at Quist think this is the secret sauce that helps kids stay on The Way. A regular weekly time where all the family come together and have a meal together. Just that alone makes a magical difference. If then you add a focused conversation, a chance for parents/guardians to listen and be heard on topics of values, character or leadership, then the effect is even greater. The meal chats make a huge difference.
Quist is providing a series of 8 Meal Chats where we can support and partner with you for these times. Each week, for the next 8 weeks, we will put out a new topic with a resource page that can help you plan for the Meal Chat at a meal where you and your kids can gather sometime that week.
Each Meal Chat is centered around an Image that can focus attention on a topic that can be discussed as a family. Just have the provided image available to get the conversation started and then use what is helpful to you from the Discussion and Idea Guide during the discussion over the meal.
Here is this week's Meal Chat on Trains & Tacks (Structure)
