Roadrunner News

Week Two Was a Great Success!

Although we know there continue to be glitches, we are seeing students engaged and excited to learn! We have held most of our Back to School Night information sessions and have had a great turn out. This next week are the second and fifth grade presentations. You will be receiving directions from your child's teacher on how to log in.

I am very proud of the level of instruction being provided by our teachers. Students are being offered rigorous academic opportunities with support in all areas. This is of the highest priority to our teaching staff. Please reach out and let them know they are appreciated!

I know some of you were able to watch the PUSD School Board meeting on 9/10. Although we have plans for reopening, we do not have definitive information. We have not been notified of our opening date at this time. We do however know it will be either 10/1 or 10/12. We are working diligently to be sure all of our health and safety measures are in place and ready to go. We are awaiting a few additional key pieces. The Board of Education also approved an earlier return for our students with special needs. We are working on those plans as well. Your child's case manager will be in contact with your if services are available for them on campus.

This week our air purifiers arrived. All classrooms being used by ESS students now have air purifiers. We will deploy the remaining devices this next week.

We are making plans based on the am / pm schedule shared previously. There are only slight changes to the plan presented in July. Those plans are still available on our website. Our next step will be to assign students to our am / pm sessions. The district will be providing the process for that step n the very near future.

As always, thank you for your support and encouragement. You kids are doing great!!!

SSC Needs You!

What is the School Site Council?

The School Site Council is made up of the principal, three teachers, five parents and one classified staff employee. Each member has an equal voice to provide input and support for school improvement programs and school budget. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month. Members of the School Site Council are elected by their peers to serve a two-year term.

What school site council does?

The Council’s purpose is to propose school wide goals, i.e., “85% of the 2nd-5th graders will score at the Proficient Level or above in Math, as measured by the California Standards Test.” The goals must be directly related to improving student achievement. The council also recommends the allocation of funds, in compliance with federal and state laws, to meet those goals. The goals, review of data, and budget are components of the annual Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

We are seeking nominations for four Parent or Community members on the site council for the 2020 - 2021 and and 2021 - 2022 school years. Returning member is Lora Marconi. If you would like to nominate someone, please ask them first, or nominate yourself.

Please submit this form by September 17 .

Meetings are the first Thursday of every month from 7 a.m. to 7:50 a.m.
