It's Fun Run Time!!!
We’re less than a week away from kicking off the Claxton Elementary FUN RUN! This is one of our two biggest fundraisers of the year. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for cultural enrichment programs, field trip scholarships, teacher appreciation, books, and supplies for the classroom, and we need your help !!!

Classroom Wishes and Needs
5th Grade 1-on-1 Volunteer: Our 5th grade teaching team is looking for volunteers to work with students one-on-one to support a range of needs in the classroom. The time commitment is flexible but it would be great if a volunteer had a few hours per week to offer for several months or for the year. Volunteers need to have a current background check and must have attended a Level II ACS training. Please email miriam.scott@acsgmail.net if you can help!
Room Reps Still Needed!
Room Reps are still needed in several of our Claxton classrooms, so please consider taking on this role for your student’s class! The intended role of the Room Rep is to help distribute important information via email to all class families regarding class and PTO events. We want every family to be informed about events and allowed the opportunity to volunteer at Claxton. The Room Rep also collaborates with the classroom teacher regarding class needs, which may include extra supplies, snacks, or volunteers for class events.
Room reps are still needed for the following classes:
3rd: Conti and Seimer
5th: Autrey
Are you interested in being a room rep this year? If so, please contact Amanda Pattanayak at alsevigny@aol.com or at (617) 953-0855 as soon as possible.
Serving as a Volunteer in the Classroom or as a Field Trip Chaperone This Year
Also, if you haven't already done so, you'll need to attend a Level II volunteer training with Asheville City Schools before you can volunteer at Claxton. The training is a one-time requirement (not needed each year) and this year's schedule is set so go ahead and make plans to attend one of these brief (~20 min) trainings. Please see below for the schedule. All trainings are held in the Board Room at the Central Office of Asheville City Schools at 85 Mountain Street. No registration is required to attend the training.

Join CLXLeaders for a Good Cause--Eblen Charities' Walk, Run, or Roll!!!
Claxton is putting a team together for Eblen Charities 18th Annual Walk, Run or Roll event taking place Saturday October 13th at 9:00 am. All funds raised help Eblen Charities to keep helping out more than 125,000 local families with medical care and supplies, travel assistance, dental and prescription care, funding assistance for food, rent, heat and other emergency aid. We value Eblen's services to families and want to get together a team of amazing CLXLeaders who will WALK with us and raise money for Eblen. Want to join?
