Mindful Monday- In this week’s Mindful Monday, Christine Guerrero, a Mental Health Supervisor for IUSD’s Prevention and Intervention team is sharing tips for how students and families can access mental health supports and resources, especially during the busy and often stressful holiday season.A good place to start is connecting with your school’s psychologist, elementary resource counselor, counselor, mental health specialist, a teacher or other trusted adult. Care Solace- IUSD has partnered with Care Solace, which provides concierge services to assist families in navigating mental health services and providers in the community. Care Solace has a dedicated multilingual Care Concierge team of experts available 24/7 to help staff and families through the process of connecting to available, verified community-based mental health providers matched to their needs. Irvine Parent Education Programs (IPEP)- FREE seminars and educational workshops offered to Irvine parents throughout the school year. The goal is to empower parents with the skills and strategies necessary to become active participants in their child’s education. IPEP offers a variety of workshops focused on topics important to parents of IUSD students. See Parent Workshops for more information.

Princeton Book Award- Princeton seeks to instill in each graduate those qualities of mind and character necessary for good citizenship and wise leadership. This includes a broad intellectual curiosity that embraces open-mindedness coupled with critical thinking; respect for our moral and cultural inheritance coupled with a capacity for innovation and change; an appreciation of the shared destiny and common humanity of all peoples; and core principles of responsibility, integrity and courage. The Princeton Book Award for Secondary Schools is an effort to recognize those characteristics in a deserving student. UC IRVINE “THEATER OF RESILIENCE” WRITING AND PERFORMANCE COMPANY- Is looking for 5 to 10 high schoolers who would like to work with 15 to 20 UCI students, all working together to write and perform a show, based on their own ideas and experience—stories of resilience and banding together, alternatives to violence in a world of mounting walls. This is a chance to do real work on a university campus (UCI)—with actual undergrads on a project we all do together. Girls Meet the Workforce- is a FREE 6-month job readiness experiential opportunity for current 9th through 11th grade girls and girl-identifying students. Participating gives you access to EXCLUSIVE Girls Inc. scholarships, an opportunity to complete a PAID internship, and networking events with top female leaders in Orange County! Its purpose is to help you identify your career interests and prepare you for today’s workforce. You will strengthen your soft skills (e.g. interpersonal communication, leadership, and networking) as well as your hard skills (e.g. navigating Microsoft Office and Google applications) throughout our career-readiness programming. Elks Lodge Scholarship- click HERE for more information on multiple scholarships this organization offers.

IUCPTA Scholarship- The scholarship will go to graduating seniors and will be used towards continued education after graduation. Recipients must attend an accredited college/university, community college, trade or technical school within the first year following high school graduation.Qualifications: This scholarship recognizes students who are PTSA members and whom have performed service activities inside and outside of school.
