CFES Travel Plan for Parents
Destination Excellence
Week of September 21st
CFES Community,
As we move into Fall, our CFES students and families once again have demonstrated what a caring community we are. Many families supported the Stuff the Bus project last week by bringing non-perishable food items, clothing, and school items for those in need in the Tomball area. This week and next, families have the opportunity to support our local food pantries by donating jars of peanut butter. Because of the generosity of our families in the past, we were able to stock several food pantries in our area with peanut butter and we are hoping to do that again this year. Thank you for instilling in our children the importance of giving to others.
Sincerely,
Cindy Killam
Assistant Principal

Destination Imagination Tryouts - Thursday!
DI tryouts are Thursday in the Cafeteria. There will be a written assignment and an "acting" activity that will be considered for team placement. We are looking for students who show leadership, innovation, creativity, a great public speaking voice, and the overall responsible teammate. We will have a rubric and we will follow it closely to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to join these two teams of 7 students. As always, we are excited to see the spirit of CFES in these children who try out. DI is a big commitment and we are excited to bring it back to CFES this year. We will be sending home letters on FRIDAY, September 24th with those who will join the two teams. These letters will be sealed and go home end of day on Friday. If your student receives a letter, they will need to plan to attend practice on Thursdays from 3:50-5:00. They will need to be picked up promptly at 5:00 out front. There will be a parent meeting for all team member's parents on Sept. 30 at 4:30.
On-Campus COVID Vaccine Opportunities
Tomball ISD has partnered with Gloyer’s Pharmacy to provide the COVID vaccine to TISD employees and all eligible students (12+). This opportunity is not a requirement but an opportunity for students, with parental consent, and for our staff to be vaccinated if they choose to participate.
Eligible students (12+) will receive the Pfizer COVID vaccine, which is a 2-dose vaccination series. The second vaccine should be administered three weeks after the first dose; therefore, Gloyer’s will return to campuses to administer the second dose three weeks after the first shot.
Fully vaccinated individuals who received their second dose more than 8 months ago and desire a booster dose can also take advantage of the opportunity Gloyer’s is providing. The booster shot is only available to those who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Make sure to indicate the vaccine initially received on the registration form. Also, make sure to bring your COVID vaccination card with you.
Gloyer’s will be at on our campus to administer the vaccine on Tuesday, September 21 from 3:30-5:30. In order to receive the vaccine, the registration and consent form must be completed by each staff member and by the parent of the eligible student who wishes to receive the vaccine.
Watch D.O.G.S
Watch D.OG.S. will begin at the end of September. There will be AM and PM slots. Watch D.O.G.S. are not permitted in the cafe or the classroom, so there is a general schedule to help around the school so they can still participate. Below are links to the flyer, schedule, and sign up. This will go out to parents soon.

CFES Cares Peanut Butter Drive
As a part of our CFES Cares Program, we our hosting our annual Peanut Butter Drive! We are excited to encourage our students to help battle food insecurity. According to Feeding America, over 37 million Americans, including more than 11 million children, are food insecure. The USDA defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. We are providing an opportunity for our cougars to bring in jars of peanut butter (not glass) from September 20th to October 1st. Students who wish to participate will drop the peanut butter jars off in the bins labeled with their teacher’s name located in the front hallway. The class with the most peanut butter wins a pizza party to celebrate. Thank you for participating in CFES Cares!
Peanut Butter Drive Volunteers Needed
We would love to have parent volunteers help with the peanut butter drive! We are going to need some help counting and organizing the jars. If you have any free time and would like to join us in the school for some peanut butter craziness filled with love then please sign up. Together we will make this awesome! Below is the sign up to volunteer.
