Raymond Central Newsletter
November 2018
From the Desk of Dr. Joel...
We have completed the first 10 weeks of the 2018-2019 school year. I want to thank everyone for all you have done to make it a great start to a successful school year. I also want to congratulate all of the coaches, activity sponsors, staff and students for their hard work and dedication in the our fall activities. As my family and I attend RC events, it is evident the pride shown toward our school is exceptional. Pride for RC is not only on display while at events, but every single day our students, staff, and stakeholders are present. To show off our pride to others, Ms. Johnson’s yearbook class created the first ever RC promotional video. The video was a collaborative effort between students and staff. It is amazing to see the creativity and quality of work when students are presented a challenge. To watch the video, it has been uploaded below this information.
If you have not done so, be sure to follow Raymond Central on social media to get score updates, photos, announcements, etc..

As we enter November, I encourage you to take a few minutes to reflect with your student on the positives you have noticed about their growth as a learner this year. Make sure you ask them what they have learned and what they would like to improve on moving forward. An important component to the learning process is taking time to reflect, but also taking time to celebrate success.
The district continues to increase the security at all building sites within our communities. All of the security cameras on the exterior of the jr/sr high school have been replaced and upgraded with multi-lens cameras. One more multi-lens camera will be installed on the north side of the main office. In the next couple of weeks, exterior lights on the jr/sr high school building will be replaced and upgraded with LED lights. The school board’s facility committee will meet in early November to discuss next steps in regards to increasing security at each of our building sites.
With the exception of our first snow a few weeks ago, I hope we will not see significant snow, ice, artic cold, etc. during the week when school is scheduled. In the event we must delay or cancel school, a voice call, email, and text message will be sent district wide through our BrightArrow System. Please contact district office if you would like to be added as a contact in BrightArrow or need to update a new email or phone number. The district will also contact local news stations, such as channel 10/11, 8, and 7, 6, and 3 to post on their morning news station.
Finally, Raymond Central has an AdvancED accreditation visit scheduled for November 13-16. The purpose of the site visit from outside evaluators is to obtain in-depth information concerning all educational aspects of Raymond Central as it pertains to continuous improvement. The feedback we receive from the visit will be used to ensure we are meeting the needs of all our students, staff, families, and communities. We are evaluated every five years to keep our AdvancED accreditation and meet the requirements for the Nebraska Department of Education.
Have a fantastic November. Go Mustangs!
