Wright Jet News

Week of September 14

Cline's Corner

It is great to see everyone in their "Move It Monday" gear! Hopefully this will be a reminder to us all that we must first take care of ourselves before we can take care of anyone else.

Please take a look at the following link on Playground Safety. You must click on "Extra Training" at the top of the page and scroll down to the Playground Safety and Maintenance Training. We will discuss this more at Faculty Meeting tomorrow.

Good Things Are Happening At Wright!

  • During last week's data team, first grade teachers commented that their students this year seem to have a stronger understanding of number sense than student's in past years.
  • Our third grade team is doing a fabulous job developing the love of reading and the qualities of good readers in their students. Students are talking about books and growing in their reading stamina. Recently a parent asked during an ARC what they were doing. Their child was showing enthusiasm and excitement about reading.

Are you the Tortoise or the Hare?

I thought this might contribute to one of your morning meetings and promote discourse and self-reflection while hitting on some of our leader in me work. I hope you find it to be helpful.

Visit this first grade writing class as students set personal goals and work towards achieving them!

Science Disciplinary Core Ideas

The elementary district science team met this week. Billy Betts created and shared a document that could be helpful to all teachers. He charted the disciplinary core ideas that are to be taught in each grade level in each science area. I know he has met with most grade levels mapping out which core ideas he will teach when children visit him during related arts. Remember we are working together with Billy to cover all the content in each grade level. He has developed a wonderful plan for implementing and engaging kids in science in all grade levels. Most grades had a representative at our meeting. A variety of documents were shared through google drive. Ask your grade level representative for the update. I have attached the link to Billy's documents.
