Good Things Are Happening At Wright!
- During last week's data team, first grade teachers commented that their students this year seem to have a stronger understanding of number sense than student's in past years.
- Our third grade team is doing a fabulous job developing the love of reading and the qualities of good readers in their students. Students are talking about books and growing in their reading stamina. Recently a parent asked during an ARC what they were doing. Their child was showing enthusiasm and excitement about reading.

I have linked you to a folder in google drive that has notes from Charlene Ruble's visit as well as Bindu Sunil's suggested book list.
Place Value Misconceptions
Thank you for participating in our work with Charlene Ruble and bby mathematics this week. Our conversations , questions and observations made it clear that our students will need continued work throughout the entire year with place value and number sense. Some of the ongoing routines that Charlene shared, such as WMPWMV , and making ten can be used and incorporated in lessons every day. Please don't limit your teaching of these concepts to just your place value unit. If you need extra support for activities and strategies let Donna know. You may find this site to be a valuable resource.
Helping students to Persist Through Challenges in Math -Growth Mindset
As you watch this short video of a second grade math classroom, please consider how the teacher helps her students become excited about challenges and what benefits there were when students are able to articulate their thinking as they work through difficult problems.
