Young and Published
Creative Writing students at Yulee Middle School placed 1st, 2nd (2nd tied with a virtual online student), and 3rd with two honorable mentions in the Middle School Division of the writing for the Just So Story contest. The Store, “Story and Song,” in Fernandina Beach, published a book of 50 short stories, and these students had stories included in their publication.
Art students at Callahan Middle School upcycled old cardboard boxes to create masks. The students designed their masks with preliminary sketches, then they cut, glued, painted, and detailed their masks.
“Patriot’s Pen” writing contest from the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Yulee Middle School had a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.
Muffins with Mom
The moms of students in Mrs. Ballard’s 1st grade class at Wildlight Elementary came out for a morning of snuggles and love as they joined their students for a Muffins with Mom breakfast! The kids gave their moms handmade cards with a special video message on a QR code! They listened to a book about Moms, shared memories with each other with survey cards, and then planted heart-paper seeds in a flowerpot together.
Mr. Gill, Yulee High's Agriculture teacher, is showing off his new smoker and helping celebrate our teachers for teacher appreciation.
Shrimp Fest Art
Wildlight Elementary students completed phenomenal artwork for the Shrimp Fest! Out of all of the entries, the winner of the Principal's Award was awarded to Alyssa Sanchez in Mrs. Cronin's fourth grade class. She also earned some fun art supplies to continue practicing her artistic talents!
