Every 15 Minutes - May 2 and 3
Every 15 Minutes is a two-day program which demonstrates to high school students the impact drinking and driving has on friends, families, and their community. The first day of the program is highlighted by a simulated traffic collision that will be conducted at the high school involving an impaired teenage driver and fatally injured victim. The event includes emergency responses from police, fire, ambulance, medical helicopter, coroner and tow truck companies, just as an actual collision would require. The program will conclude with a mock funeral and assembly for students on May 3rd, 2022. VHS Juniors and Seniors will attend this event.

Community Forum Follow-up
We would like to thank all of the parents who have attended our Community Forums. Your input is extremely essential in cultivating an understanding of how we can best serve our students. Our goal is to close the feedback loop so that you know what decisions are being made at your student's school. Through our conversations and the information we receive we can provide these directly to VHS Action Groups and help facilitate future action.
*Our next Community Forum is May 18th at 6pm in the VHS Library*

The Importance of Community Engagement
The work we do as Community Liaisons is built on interactive methods that bridge communication between our school and the community. Our culturally rich experiences serve as our foundation for helping our students and their parents in a safe and loving environment. Based on the demographics of our community, Spanish is the home language for many of our families and for this reason we provide bilingual support while also acknowledging and honoring all languages, backgrounds, and narratives. We assist in facilitating families with access to communication and resources. In our mission, we strive to make our greatest efforts to preserve our connections and encourage learning and education for both our students and their families. -Dalia R. Hipolito Martinez
