10 days to go....
As we near the holiday break, our students tend to be more excitable (really, right???)!! Sandra thinks she set a record on Friday for number of students with discipline issues in one day. Try to keep your routines and procedures in place as much as possible so students remain calm and managed. I realize with all the events upcoming, that is VERY difficult, but we do appreciate your every effort!
Vertical Team meetings
Monday, Dec. 10, at 3:15pm is our 2nd quarter vertical team meeting. I would like to claim the first 10 minutes of these meetings to do a quick overview of Tuesday's lockdown procedures, so we will crowd into Amy's room just briefly before you start your separate content meetings.
Lockdown Drill
We will have our official lockdown drill on Tuesday at 1:30pm. There will be a Lockdown Procedures video for your students to watch on Tuesday at the end of announcements. It is critical that they have watched the video prior to the 1:30pm drill so they are familiar with the safety poster as well as the procedure. Please make sure to watch the Tuesday announcements all the way through to the end. Also, please take time prior to 1:30pm to talk to students about where you will go in your classroom and what you will do. 3rd graders will return to classrooms at 1:28 so they are in their classrooms for this first drill. However, specials teachers, you will need to go over with every class, every grade level, the procedures for a lockdown in your area so they know what to do.
Choir Holiday Tour
On Thursday, our CLE choir will join the ME choir for a holiday nursing home tour. The choir students will be gone from 8:30am - 1:30pm, so please plan ahead if there are tests / projects they need to do in advance.
Penguin Patch
The Penguin Patch rules will be basically the same as the book fair. If they have money, they may go shop at a time approved by their teachers. They will be open from 7:00ish AM until 2:30, with late hours on Wednesday (I believe) until 4pm. Students should not be released to just go browse.
We will have 10 passes available in the mornings from the cafeteria so students can go shop. When they return to the cafeteria with their pass, another student can go.
PTA Luncheon
PTA is feeding you holiday lunch on Friday, December 14th, from 10:30 - 12:30!! YAY, PTA!!!
Fundraiser Game Truck
Friday, Dec. 14th from 12:30 - 2:30, the Fundraiser Game truck will be here. There are about 38 students who will be attending. As soon as I have a schedule, I'll send it to you. I do have the list of students which I will share so you know who will be missing from your class during that time.
NBMS Choir
Unfortunately, the times we were give for the NBMS choir to come on Friday were all during our lunch rotation. Some students will get to enjoy their singing while they eat lunch from 11:15 - 11:45 if you are eating during that time, but we will not have an all school assembly to hear them.
PBIS Reward
This Friday, we will do our next PBIS reward day for those students whose tickets were drawn these last 3 weeks. I'll share the names with you. We will be doing hot cocoa with a holiday movie in the science lab. We'll offer two times, 8:30 - 9:00 OR 2:00 - 2:30 as we did last time, and you can choose which time works best for your schedule.
