Reset Room Pilot
Starting in semester two, Lamont High School is excited to open the Reset Room! This will be a designated safe area in room 114, where students can reset themselves by focusing on the emotions they are experiencing. Miss Vandelannoite will be the teacher in charge of this room and and will show students various tools and coping skills to assist the mental challenges they are undergoing. This room is structured by having the student label and size their feelings, choose and use a coping skill, and lastly, do a self assessment of their ability to return to class.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, contact Miss Vandelannoite at jessalyn.vandelannoite@eips.ca. Continue to keep your eyes peeled on social media to see photos of the reset room!Exam Bank

Cinderella's Closet
The mission of Cinderella’s Closet is to provide graduation attire for students in Grade 9 or Grade 12 who require some financial assistance to make that happen. This year, Cinderella’s Closet will be open for the last week in February until the end of April 2023. The organization is asking teachers and counsellors to book all applicable students in their school for one day—they’re not open evenings or weekends. For more information or to book a day, email cinderellasclosetyeg@gmail.com.
NOTE: There’ll be no parents allowed unless travelling from out of town or if a student with a disability needs extra assistance. There may also be extenuating circumstances reviewed on a case-by-case basis for a parent to be with a student. Due to the size of Cinderella’s Closet, they’re asking visitors to wear masks.

High School Information Nights
To help you make an informed decision about high school, senior high schools throughout Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) are hosting information sessions for all Grade 9 students and their families. The sessions allow students and families to meet the staff; tour the school; learn about the curriculum, course offerings and alternative programming available; discuss diploma requirements and various career paths; plus, more. Decisions about whether each event will take place virtually or in-person will be made closer to each date. Refer to the event calendar on each school website for details in the coming weeks. Make sure to take part to learn everything you need to know about the Division’s senior high programs and courses.
Lamont High will be hosting an open house on February 8th from 6:00-8:00
Returning Student Registration for 2023-24
Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) will once again conduct an online returning student registration process to confirm student registrations for the 2023-24 school year. Families of all current students—with the exception of graduating Grade 12 students—must complete the process to confirm the school their child plans to attend in the 2023-24 school year or advise the Division of their plans not to return to EIPS. Additionally, students who want to attend a non-designated school need to make that request through the returning student registration process—acceptance is based on available space. The 2023-24 returning student registration takes place Feb. 1-28, 2023.
Access to the Returning Student Registration Form is provided through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you don’t have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you need to set one up before Feb. 1, 2023. Create a PowerSchool Parent Portal account.
For more information, contact the school office at 780-895-2228.
School Messenger App
Lamont High and the Division use the SchoolMessenger platform to communicate with families—through both phone and email. Be sure to add communications@eips.ca and general.lhs@eips.ca to your safe sender list to avoid having important messages funneled into your junk mail folder.
The easiest way to stay connected is to download the SchoolMessenger app. Get the latest updates from both the Division and your child’s school direct to your mobile device and enable push notifications to never miss a message. Families can also check back on past messages—for up to 30 days—directly in the app rather than searching to find an old message buried in their inbox. Download the SchoolMessenger app from the App Store or Google Play today.
