ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Attendance will always be a critical part of school success; however, the health and safety of all members of the school the environment will remain our top priority.
We understand that attendance may look different this year. Our teachers are working very hard to make sure students who are out for any reason will still get the instruction they need to be successful.
Parents are encouraged to use the “ASD1 Note for Student Absence” when a student is out of school for any reason. This form has the information the school needs for documentation and attendance purposes. (below article)
It is imperative that any student who may have been exposed to the virus or has COVID-19 symptoms should stay home and NOT attend school. Symptoms with or without fever:
o Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
o Loss of taste or smell
o New or worsening cough
Face-to-Face students who do not physically attend school will be marked absent. Face-to-Face students who are not physically present at school are encouraged to join their classrooms virtually if they are feeling up to it. However, please know that joining virtually does not count them present but it will help the student keep up with learning and have access to assignments that would normally not be available due to an absence. A Face-to-Face student who is absent due to COVID-19 symptoms or has been exposed to someone testing positive for COVID-19, will be counted as an “approved” absence once the “ASD1 Note for Student Absence” is turned in to the office.
VLA students will be marked absent if they have not logged into the virtual classroom within 10 minutes of the start of class. For any internet or device concerns, please call our technology support services staff at 864-428-9050 or email them at PowdersvilleSupport@apps.anderson1.org . Due to the volume of calls, you may need to leave a message and they will call you back. Unfortunately, our teachers are not trained to troubleshoot technology issues.
VLA students should come to class ready to work each day. They should have all school supplies readily available, a working device, be on time, be appropriately dressed, and have their face visible on the camera. VLA students are expected to participate in all classroom activities and discussions.
Questions regarding attendance should be emailed to Mrs. Nelson, PVMS Attendance Clerk. Nelsons@apps.anderson1.org
