Counselor's Message
Happy Holidays, Hurricanes!
We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving spending time with family and loved ones.
As we enter into the last month of the calendar year, it is important to remember to do our best to take care of ourselves. With the winter holidays around the corner, we tend to only get busier. This means it can be difficult to remember to do things to take care of ourselves.
We will be focusing on self-care in this newsletter as well as in classroom guidance lessons.

How to Practice Taking Care of Yourself
Self-care is a choice you make to maintain your own mental health, health, and wellness.
While your child likely does not deal the same kind of stress as you do, self-care is still beneficial and important for them to practice.
When you teach your child about self-care at a young age, it will teach them to prioritize their mental and physical health, now and as they age. According to this article, when you introduce your kiddos to these habits of caring for themselves, it can help them learn how to deal with stressors in the future and reduces their risk of developing mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression!
