East End Elementary News
October 24, 2022
Dear East End Families,
Happy Red Ribbon Week! A huge word of thanks to our guidance counselor, Dr. Del Freitag, for all his work in planning for this special week where an emphasis is placed on choosing a healthy lifestyle and saying no to drugs. Dr. Freitag’s message to our faculty shared, “The purpose of Red Ribbon Week will be to coordinate the power of Lifeskills/Guidelines with the real-life application Drug Free/Bully-free lifestyle choices here at East End.” He prepared a PowerPoint for each class and will be sharing a special lesson in the classrooms this week during their guidance sessions.
This newsletter highlights the past week with pictures of our recognition of Officer James Cheeks, the second grade swimming lessons at the YMCA, Twin Day, and other events last week.
Please join me for a Principal’s Chat this Friday, October 28th at 8:30 a.m. in the cafeteria. This will be a time for parents to meet with me and ask questions. I would also like to take the opportunity at these times to share some updates and information to parents, as well. We’ll have coffee, tea, and beverages to share with you. I hope you can join me for what I hope to have as a monthly time on my calendar that I mark for parents to join me as we partner together this year. Hope to see you on Friday, October 28th at 8:15 a.m. We want to use these opportunities of staying in closer touch with our parents. I hope you can join me on Friday, October 28th at 8:15 a.m. Hope you can join me for the first Principal's Chat this Friday.
As always, thank you for your support of East End!
Here’s to a great week!
Tammy Day, principal

A Message From Officer Samuel Byers, EEE"s School Resource Officer
Officer Samuel L. Byers Introduction
I wanted to take a brief moment and introduce myself and give some insight into my background. I am a single parent of one son and he is a blessing to my life. I am a native to Pickens and a 1992 graduate from Lugoff-Elgin High School and I graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in May 2003. For nineteen years and seven months, I served as an officer for the Pickens Police Department, in which, I served in various capacities, including Road Patrol Officer, Investigator, Interim Chief and School Resource Officer.
Recently, I accepted a position with the Easley Police Department as School Resource Officer at East End Elementary. I feel that my life experiences will help me to be an example to lead and guide our children in making smart choices in life. I look forward to helping promote a positive and safe learning environment for the students.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the East End Bulldog family and look forward interacting with the students. If you know of any student that has any needs, please feel free to reach out to me. I am here to help in any way that I can.
