Springs Studio Scoop

Springs Studio for Academic Excellence, November Edition

A Note from Executive Principal, Mr. Knoche

It's happening! We will begin construction on our new addition beginning next week. You will soon see construction fencing going up on the south side of the building, which means construction is happening. We are excited about the additional space and what that means for the opportunities our students will have. We will be adding nine classrooms (science, coding, technology) and more open space. We will be sending out an invitation toward the end of the month about our official groundbreaking ceremony. Our district leadership and school board have been amazing in supporting our school and getting this space secured. We will provide monthly updates through this newsletter so that families will be aware of any obstacles or changes that will be made to our campus to ensure we disrupt our system as minimally as possible. Stay tuned!

Coffee with the Principal

We want to invite parents to join us for "Coffee with the Principal." A relaxed setting to have some great conversations about SSAE. We would love for you to bring questions, concerns, or suggestions about SSAE to our meeting. There are ten slots available for this meeting. We will have monthly meetings, so please only sign up once. This way we can have a new group of people each month!

We are looking forward to conversations about improving student success!

Pizza with the Principal for Middle & High School Students

Student voice matters, and so does a great lunch. Why not combine those two? I want to offer an opportunity for students to meet in a small group with me, Mr. Knoche, to share their experiences to help shape and refine the climate and culture of Springs Studio. I am looking for 12 students (different each month) to meet with me and share pizza and ideas. I will provide pizza, and you can share your ideas. Please sign up and bring ideas about how we can improve, tweak, or address certain issues at Springs Studio. This is a solution-minded get together, so you have to bring solutions if you want to see changes. I look forward to meeting with everyone.

Impact Aid Program Survey Form

The Federal Government recognizes a need to reimburse school districts to make up for a reduction in real property tax revenue. The authorization for this reimbursement is Public Law 107-110 (Impact Aid), first passed in 1950 under President Truman. A student, who has a parent or guardian living or working on federal property, or an active Military service member, is termed a "federally-connected student" for accounting purposes. Each year the federal government sets aside a fixed amount of money to allocate to districts that qualify for this aid. It is important that District 49 apply for its share of this revenue. In order to receive all the revenue due, we must ask parents and guardians to complete the Impact Aid survey form (one for each child) and return to SSAE by November 15th.

Please turn in the signed form even if you are not Military or on federal property as we are aiming for a 100% turn-in rate.

Forms are going home with students starting October 31st
