CSD Weekly Update
WEEK #4, September 11, 2020
Dear Cambrian Families,
Today marks the end of our fourth week back for the 2020-21 school year. Through this tumultuous time that forced us to recreate almost every aspect of our daily lives, it has really crystallized for me the importance of the personalized experience we pride ourselves in at the Cambrian School District. It is because of the importance of that experience that we are doing everything we can to bring the community back together as soon as it’s safe to do so.
You may have received my other email today sharing that Santa Clara County has been moved to Tier 2 (Red tier). What does that mean for Cambrian School District and our students? If Santa Clara County maintains the current status of Tier 2 (Red tier) from September 8th for 14 consecutive days, then September 22 schools have the authority to reopen under the state's tiered framework, unless a more restrictive county directive is in place. While we remain optimistic, we do not know what the next two weeks will bring and whether we will remain in Tier 2 (Red tier).
Our objective would be to begin slowly bringing grade levels back in the middle of October with the hopes of having all students back prior to Thanksgiving break. Of course, this will all be contingent upon whether to meet the 14-day requirement. I promise to keep you updated every step of the way as we progress during this school year.
On another important note, today marks a significant date in our nation’s history, when one of the most catastrophic events in our lifetime occurred--the attacks on America on September 11, 2001, when over 3,000 innocent people died. Cambrian School District students were not even born at that time, but our world was changed forever 19 years ago. I hope you will take a moment to share the significance of this day with your children in an age-appropriate way. We should never forget the sacrifices and tragedy of September 11, 2001.
We should share the significance of this historical event with our children and students; the mark it has made on humanity and our world, and the importance of freedom. We should also never forget the strength in unity and the power of solidarity with all across this nation who remember the pain of grief and loss on this day.
Thank you again for your commitment and partnership with our district. We are so fortunate to have you and your family as a member of our community. You make a tremendous difference. Have a wonderful weekend. We are CAMBRIAN.
YOU CAN HELP SUPPORT CAMBRIAN STUDENTS and ENDORSE CAMBRIAN LAND DEVELOPMENT
The Cambrian School District has been in the process of assessing potential land redevelopment of District-owned properties as a new ongoing revenue stream to support our students, programs, and District. After evaluating multiple options, we identified the Metzler Elementary School at Cambrianna Drive as a promising opportunity to convert a portion of this site into an ongoing revenue stream. The proposed development matches and complements the character of the neighborhood.
The proposed housing development project for the Cambrian School district will generate ongoing revenue that will support CSD’s outstanding programs.
Please join Cambrian parents, teachers, and neighbors and click here to sign a letter of support asking the City of San Jose to approve the District’s general plan amendment application.
