Spring is coming...!
The trimester is rapidly coming to a close. With the snow (hopefully) behind us we have the spring thaw and the third trimester to look forward to. I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I was so thankful to have the sunshine and some time outside. I took my kids to see the boys State Basketball championship game. What a game. Here comes the final two weeks of school before spring break. REALLY SPRING BREAK! Its coming.
[Gloating voice] - I also look forward to the March Madness Bracket and retaining the crown which I righteously claimed last year. I look forward to a worthy opponent this year. Who will claim the March Madness Tournament Staff Challenge hosted by the invincible Renee Neill.
Dig in deep these last two weeks and bring your best to the classroom. I am proud of this staff and the work we do for students. I am excited about our future and the work before us.

In The Know
Get your Softball gear! - The softball team is buying team jackets, visors, shirts, and things like that. A couple of the staff members have reached out asking if they could buy some of the spirit gear. I wanted to let you know that if you are interested there will be a sign up list set out in the mailbox area.
Daylight Savings - Check your clocks!

STEaM Eugene!
Eugene School District 4J is hosting
STEaM Eugene-a free community event celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics
Wednesday, March 20th from 4:30-8:00 pm at Churchill High School
Throughout the night, we will offer family STEaM activities for all ages, a student exhibition of learning, and community partner exhibits. Additionally, there will be a panel discussion regarding climate and water issues and showing of the film Inventing Tomorrow-the future is brighter than you think, followed by a Q & A with community stake holders. See attached flyer. We invite you and your students and families to join us for this event!
The ask:
Do you have awesome student work and/or an interactive activity you have developed for your students? We would love to showcase the important STEaM learning that happens in classrooms across 4J and need your help to do so. The focus is on STEaM education with a lens on equity for all students. Examples could be STE(a)M projects, artwork, science and math journals, senior/capstone projects, writing samples, climate and water related writing, computer coding programs, experiments/data collected, and more. Students can be present to share their work, or we can find a way to share present the work in a way that speaks for itself. If you have an idea for showcasing the work of your students, but are worried it doesn't fit, please contact us to discuss, because most likely it is perfect!
Please respond to this short Google Form if you are interested in this great opportunity to showcase the amazing work you and your students do throughout the year! Also, if you're thinking of an example from a colleague's classroom, please encourage them on our behalf, or recommend in the form (last question) and we will reach out directly.
This event is sponsored in partnership 4J's Equity Committee, the DisOrient Film Festival, and City of Eugene SPLASH grant.
Thank you all for the hard work you do each day to support our students!

Classified Staff - I just want you to know how much you are appreciated. School would not function, nor would it exist, if it weren't for the collective effort of our classified staff. From the classroom to the supervision, to the kitchen, facilities, front office and beyond, our classified staff are a group of essential workers that make the dream of education a reality for so many students. Thank you for everything you do and the time you take to do it well.
Congratulations Churchill Basketball - Your strong seasons are to be remembered. I am so proud of the coaches and athletes that have dedicated their time and energy. It was a very exciting weekend and amazing games. Congratulations to our Girls who secured 4th place and to our boys team who showed up with a gallant effort finishing 2nd in the state. I am proud of each and every athlete. A tip of the hat to Coaches Terry Harrison and Kelly Bokn for strong and solid leadership and coaching.
