Description
The Oregon Territory consisted mainly of Washington, Oregon & Idaho. Small corners of Montana & Wyoming were also included.
It was acquired from a treaty signed by James Polk on June 15, 1846 from Britian. We actually gained possession in 1848. On August 14, 1848, Congress created The Oregon Territory.
Fun Facts
Before the treaty was signed, we almost went to war over the land.
This territory has helped America gain more resources and land to settle in overall. "The Donation Land Law of 1850," helped push the territory in development.
