Fourth Grade Transition to Mitchell Intermediate
Mitchell Intermediate School Welcomes Your Child for the 2020-2021 School Year:
Making the transition from elementary school to Mitchell Intermediate is an exciting event for fourth graders. The Mitchell Intermediate faculty is looking forward to helping you and your child with this process. We are already busy planning in preparation for the 2020-2021 school year. I would like to make you aware of future events that you will want to remember.
In the meantime, please take the opportunity to visit the Mitchell Intermediate website at:
http://mitchell.conroeisd.net/
The website will better acquaint you with our fabulous school. You can even check out our parent newsletters by opening the Mitchell Messenger link.
Any child enrolled in a Conroe ISD school for fourth grade will have most of the necessary registration information needed for enrollment at Mitchell. You, as a parent, do not need to worry about enrolling your child for 5th grade at Mitchell Intermediate. However, I will be sending packets to your child’s elementary school that will contain information you might find of interest. You should receive the Mitchell Intermediate 4th Grade Orientation packet the week of March 23. If you don’t receive it, that indicates your child is not registered to attend Mitchell Intermediate next year. If you don’t receive a packet and think your child is registered, please contact the Mitchell Intermediate School Attendance Clerk, Linda Rusinski, at lrusinski@conroeisd.net or 832.592.8460.
In the packet, you will receive a form titled “New Mitchell Mustang Information Form”. You are welcome to complete this optional form and return it to Mitchell Intermediate. Please do not email any information that includes placement considerations to me or the counselor. It is much easier for placement purposes if we have information on one consistent form. In addition, our staff will be busy helping our current Mitchell Mustangs and their families, especially with the transition to McCullough. Therefore, if you would like to set up a meeting to share more information than what can be indicated on the “New Mitchell Mustang Information Form”, we will be scheduling meetings July 20-August 3, 2020. You may set up a meeting with me or the grade level counselor, Marianne Mote.
In the meantime, you will want to mark down important dates for orientations. Fourth graders are invited to orientation on Monday, April 27. They will take a CISD bus from their elementary school to Mitchell for orientation that begins at 9:15 a.m. Parent Orientation will cover information parents will find informative and is offered on two different days to accommodate conflicting schedules. Both sessions are identical; parents only need to attend one of the two orientations, on either Monday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. or Tuesday, April 28 at 9:15 a.m.
Students interested in either band or orchestra need to plan on attending the Mitchell Instrument Evaluation on Saturday, May 2. Be aware that we have reschedule this evaluation. My previous communication indicated dates in April. We would like to try and complete all evaluations in one day. We are aware there might be conflicts and will have directors to evaluate children on May 5 from 5:00-7:30 pm. If you are interested in renting/purchasing an instrument, you will want to attend Instrument Vendor Night on Tuesday, May 5 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. The band is limited to a few percussionists and saxophone players. Students must have been recommended for another instrument before auditioning for percussion or saxophone which will also be held on Saturday, May 5. An electronic sign up will be emailed to parents.
We look forward to seeing our future Mustangs on April 27 and you on April 27 or April 28 for parent orientation.
Sincerely,
Paula Klapesky
Principal Mitchell Intermediate
The Early Childhood Fair
Lunch Time Guests
Please keep in mind that there is limited seating for parents and guests at lunch time. We have four folding tables that are placed out in the cafeteria. Please slide down and make sure to fill in all empty seats at each table. Do not sit with your child at their table, all visitors must stay at the visitor tables. We ask at the end of your children's lunch time (5 mins left) to send your child back to their table. They will walk back to their classroom with their class. This also allows the next set of guests to have seats. Please check-out at the front office by turning in your guest badge. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Lunch Guest Schedule

Tuesday - 1st = 11:55am

GENERAL REMINDERS:
Afternoon Transportation Changes
If you are changing your Bobcat’s transportation for dismissal, you may do so in one of three ways:

- E-mail bush@conroeisd.net
- Fax (936) 709-1699
The e-mail or fax needs to be received by Bush before 2:30 PM. This allows us necessary time to deliver all requests to the classrooms.
Lost & Found Items
AM & PM Car Rider Line
Please remain to the side of the shoulder on Crownridge for both morning and afternoon car rider line. This will allow access to the parking lot for cars that are not dropping off students.
In the morning, buses are having difficulty getting through the car line and being able to get children to school.
