Qualifications

  • Senators must be at least 30 years old.
  • Must becitizens of the United States for 9 years prior to election.
  • Must be a legal resident of the state you represent.


Term of Office

  • For Senate there are 6 year terms and elections are held in November of evenumbered years.
  • Senators would run for reelections every 2 years.
  • The senators has more continuity than the Famers planned because most senators win reelections.
  • They begain terms on January 3, after the election held previous November.

Salary & Benefits : A U.S Senate make 174,000 a year.

Privileges & Benefits

  • The Constitution provides members of Congress certain privilages to protect them.
  • The are free from arrest "in all cases except treason, felony, and breach of the peace".
  • The privileges does not extend to what members may say outside of Congress.
