Hózhó Academy Newsletter

For the week of September 19th - 23rd, 2022

Weekly Update

Dear Families,

I hope you all have a wonderful week as autumn is officially approaching. On Monday, September 26th, Hózhó Academy is hosting a school-wide Curriculum Night. We look forward to welcoming families and partnering together this school year.

Curriculum Night Information

Grade K-5: Teachers in K-5 will have a short presentation in their classroom at 6 PM followed by an invitation to the gym where there will be booths for different activities and a representative from POMS, our security management, to answer questions about school safety policies and procedures at our school.

Grades 6-9: There will be an open house and teachers will be available in their classrooms from 6-7 pm.

Reminder: This is not an individual parent/teacher conference time. The teachers are there to give information about the curriculum and how to support students throughout this school year. Any specific questions should be emailed to the teacher, or at an appointment set up outside of the Curriculum Night timeframe.

Please refer to our online handbook for information on Hózhó Academy's policies and procedures.

If you have questions, please reach out to our front office at (505) 722-8922.

Brittney Montano

Big picture

We are delighted to introduce Brittney Montano, our newest Kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Montano cares deeply for her students and is described as talkative, spirited, and enjoyable. When asked about her educational philosophy she quoted Ignacio Estrada, “If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” Mrs. Montano believes all children deserve a nurturing, inspiring, and sheltered environment in which to flourish socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.

Outside of school she enjoys being with her family and friends in Albuquerque, attending concerts, and traveling. A fun fact about Mrs. Montano is that she knows how to juggle, and her favorite book is Goodbye is Not Forever by Amy George and Al Janssen. Mrs. Montano earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Western New Mexico University and is a great addition to Hózhó Academy.
