City of Petersburg to offer holiday meals
The City of Petersburg will continue the 2020 Holiday Season Giving Initiative - "Feed the Need with a Taste of Petersburg," for the Christmas Holiday! Through Feed the Need, the City will partner with local restaurants to purchase pre-packaged meals to be delivered to Petersburg residents.
During the Thanksgiving holiday, more than 8,000 meals were provided. For the Christmas season, the goal is to prepare and deliver 10,000 meals! The City will partner with the same restaurants that prepared meals for Thanksgiving.
The goal of this initiative is to provide meals to Petersburg residents who've been affected by COVID-19 while simultaneously providing economic stimulus to local restaurants and their employees.
These meals will be delivered over a four-day period (December 22, 23, 29, 30) to Petersburg families who may be experiencing food insecurity due to COVID-19. This program will be implemented using funding from the CARES ACT.
If potential applicants have questions, they should call 804-324-4014 (or 4015). This application process will close on December 16, 2020 OR as soon as the registration limit is reached.
