Dear Marysville Families
The students and staff worked hard to share our gratitude and support to many local businesses.
To honor this work and celebrate the success next Tuesday afternoon 5/25/21 at 3:45 the Marysville Staff will drive a parade route through the neighborhood, passing by many of the businesses that were supported.
Feel free to come out along the route to wave and cheer us on.
Happy Friday,
Cathy Murray

SEGC Parent Representation
Last fall, the District began a process to fix problems related to the space in school buildings, like resolving overcrowding across all grade levels, expanding access to comprehensive middle school programming, reducing the use of portable classrooms, and addressing issues that happen when specialized programs share buildings with neighborhood schools.
A Guiding Coalition of parents, school and district staff from across Southeast met frequently to review draft proposals and consider community input using a racial equity and social justice lens.
Thank you to Alex Pham and Michael Rehana for representing Marysville in all those meetings!
In December 2020 the coalition recommended an attendance area and program plan for the newly modernized Kellogg Middle School, most of which was adopted by the School Board in January.
As a result, five K-8 schools (Arleta, part of Bridger, Creston, Lent and Marysville) and a Spanish Immersion program will convert to K-5/middle school structures, and more than 700 students, including neighborhood Marysville 6th, 7th and 8th grade students, will start at Kellogg for the 2021-22 school year.
Now the district is restarting the guiding coalition in order to take on more enrollment imbalances and opportunities across Southeast schools, including the focus on Harrison Park becoming a middle school, a new home for the Harrison Park K-5 students and increasing enrollment at Lane MS.
Marysville needs a new parent volunteer to represent our community along with myself in these new meetings.
The time commitment is a lot, but it is also a good way to meet parents from other schools and to understand the connections between Southeast neighborhoods and learn more about the processes of the District.
The first Guiding Coalition meeting will be May 27th, 2021, from 6 pm-9 pm.
Please let me know if you are able to support the school in this way.
Thank you!
Cathy Murray

News from Kellogg
Greetings Kellogg families!
I am in the process of putting together a parent advisory group. This group will represent a diverse cross section of Kellogg Middle School and consist of both DLI and non-DLI students. We will meet once a month in June, July and August and work towards the opening of our brand new school. Time commitment is about an hour a month in the evening time. We will talk about the upcoming structures for Kellogg and hear your feedback and ideas around this. If you are interested, please fill out this form here. Please email me at rsmith5@pps.net with any questions. Thank you!
Student and Family Vaccinations
As of Thursday, May 13, vaccinations at the Oregon Convention Center are now open for students ages 12 and older. Students and families are welcome to either schedule vaccinations using the All4Oregon website or walk in on their own. In addition, PPS is providing district-supported opportunities for students 12 and older and their family members, as the district and schools have for the last two weeks. Student families who would like support with registering and transportation should take the following steps to sign-up.
Key Info:
The PPS Student & Family Vaccination Website is here.
The sign up link is on the website in supported languages and linked below:
Заявление о заинтересованности учащегося и членов семьи в вакцинац
There will be one more opportunity for students to ride shuttle buses from designated school sites, as listed at the link above, to the Oregon Convention Center. This will occur on Wednesday, May 26th, from 9 AM - 1 PM.
For students ages 12-14, a parent/guardian must accompany the student for their vaccination, or the student must have a signed consent form from the parent and be accompanied by an adult designated by the parent/guardian.
Parents will be asked to share health insurance info (if applicable), and to verify student age at the vaccination site.
Students who take the bus will be escorted through the process with translation support available.
Students who show up by themselves or with their families can stop by the PPS tent in front if they need support or go through the process. 12-14 year olds that show up must have either their parent or guardian with them OR have a designated adult with signed consent from their parent.
