Integrated Learning
It's finally cold outside! This month we will be exploring penguins, winter sites, and weather/winter sports. We will be reading Three Cheers for Tacky by Helen Lester, The Jacket I Wear in the Snow by Shirley Neitzel, and All You Need for A Snowman by Barbara Lavallee. Some of the centers include:
- Ice skating (using paper plates)
- Story map for Tacky the Penguin
- Snowflake patterning
- Shaving cream snowman
Spanish
This month in Spanish we will begin learning the names of basic shapes. Students will learn how to play the game "Shape Train." Ask your child how to say circle in Spanish!
P.E.
Literacy
We will introduce the letters "Uu and "Rr." We will read the books Umbrella bird's Umbrella and Rosie's Rabbit Radish. The children will practice letter recognition and formation. Centers include:
- Umbrella color code
- U maze
- Rainbow addition
- U and R Bingo
Social Studies
We will be begin our study of different types of homes. We will start by talking about our homes and our addresses. One of the books we will read is A House Is A House For Me and Homes Around the World.

Science
We will begin our study of fabric. A few books we will read are Aaron's Shirt by Deborah Gould and Clothes by Karen Mole. We will explore and discuss the origin of fabric as well as different types of fabric.
