The Religion of India

The Main Religion: Hinduism

There are various gods and goddesses in this religion but three lords rule the world. The three are Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer. Vishnu's wife is Lakshmi, goddess of wealth and prosperity, Brahma's wife is Sarasvati and Shiva's wife was Parvati. Some gods can also change their forms like Parvati changes into Kali or Durga. Not all Hindus worship all of these, some worship only Vishnu, some worship only Shiva, and some worship only goddesses.

Other gods and goddesses

There are a number of other gods and goddesses such as Ganesh with the head of an elephant. Hanuman, the ape. The lord of the sun Surya. Goddess of the river Ganges, Ganga Ma. Lord of the sea Samundra. King of the gods Indra, although he isn't an important god. Prithvi, goddess of earth. Goddess of power, Shakti. Hindus call their goddesses Ma which means mother.
