New Staff and New Roles at Veritas
Welcome
Many New Changes at Veritas
Dr. Cowan, Principal
Over the last seven years I have been part of the Veritas community and look forward to continuing the growth at Veritas. I have been “Proud to be MUSD” for the last fourteen years and I am honored to follow in the footsteps of a great mentor, leader, and friend, Mrs. Tracie Crawford. I was raised in Manteca, attended Shasta, Sequoia, and East Union Schools and was awarded my Doctorate in Education at the University of Pacific in 2018. I have taught at Golden West and East Union High School and worked as a Program Coordinator at Golden West and Vice Principal at Golden West, August Knodt, and Veritas. I am very excited to become the second Principal at Veritas school.
Ms. Taylor, Vice Principal
I am thrilled to be joining the Veritas community as Vice Principal! I grew up in Southern California but opted for college in northern California and have been here ever since. For the past twenty plus years, I have been an educator in this area, having taught in both Tracy Unified and Jefferson School Districts before finding a home in Manteca. When I first started in Manteca Unified six years ago, I was Vice Principal of both Golden West and French Camp schools. For the last 3 and a half years, I was working solely at French Camp as their VP. I am looking forward to working with the students, staff, and families of Veritas as partners in education.
Mrs. Kantack, Office Mngr.
I have worked for Manteca Unified School District since 2001. I started out as a paraprofessional in a K-3 Special Day class at New Haven. From there I moved on to the categorical clerk position at Lathrop Elementary School from 2002-2004, and then landed in the School Readiness Department at the district office, where I spent the past 16 years helping prepare our youngest students for school. Now I am proud to say I am the new office manager at Veritas Elementary School and am happy to be back at a school site!
Mr. Thomas, Head Cust.
Mrs. Kaur, Bilingual Aide
I joined Veritas last year as bilingual aide in November and looking forward for personal and professional growth here. I was awarded my Bachelor’s in Education in 2007 and am currently working on my Master’s in Education. I am so honored and proud to be a part of Veritas family and MUSD.
Ms. Choumwer, VC Counselor
I’m very excited to join the Veritas Community as a school based counselor and look forward to continuing my journey here. It’s a joy to join MUSD community and continue my passion of working with children and counseling. I was raised in Stockton, CA and then attended Mills College in Oakland, CA where I obtained my B.A. in Psychology. It’s going to be my pleasure working at Veritas and providing individual counseling as requested or needed for students regarding issues along the lines of social skills, peer conflict, anger management, anxiety, etc.

Ms. Sandhu, Teacher
Hello everyone, my name is Jaslyn Sandhu and I am the new second and third grade teacher. This is my first-year teaching. I am looking forward to being a part of the Veritas family again. I was a student at this school many years ago and was able to come back and teach at the school that with I learned from. I am super excited to meet students, families and be a part of the community.
Ms. Terry, Teacher
Starting my teaching adventure with Veritas, in 6th grade, has been amazing. The community here has been welcoming and helpful. I graduated with my teaching credentials in 2020 from Notre Dame de Namur University. Science and reading are my favorite subjects. Learning is such a joy (especially as a teacher) and I look forward to many years of growth with the Veritas community.
