Octavo CPD
Training and events for the next three months
As 2015 draws to a close Octavo Partnership are already looking forward to 2016. We have planned an extensive CPD programme for the Spring Term and we still have much, much more to add!
The new year will see the re-introduction of the ever-popular NaSENCO award, plenty of SIMs training from our Information Systems team and new training courses for existing and aspiring Senior Leaders. Be sure to save the date for a jointly run Octavo and NUT Conference on Wed 2nd March entitled 'Ambitious for Croydon Schools' with Prof. Merryn Hutchings, Emeritus Professor of Education at London Metropolitan University.
Don't miss out - book your place today!
Lastly we would like to wish all of our customers, schools and pupils a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
New courses for January, February and March
Speech Bubbles - Drama approaches to improving children's communication skills
10 Feb | 9:30am - 3:30pm
Increasing numbers of children are starting school life with communication problems. In Speech Bubbles sessions school staff create a safe and playful space for children in KS1 to develop their communication skills.
The training day is very practical and all the exercises are taken from the highly successful and well evaluated Speech Bubbles programme.
Save the Date! Ambitious for Croydon Schools
2 March | 4:30pm - 6pm
A jointly run afternoon conference by Octavo and the NUT will provide participants with an opportunity to consider factors that have been identified in recent research projects and educational publications as factors that lead to success in schools.
Keynote speaker Merryn Hutchings, Emeritus Professor of Education, London Metropolitan University.
Full details will be on the Octavo portal in the coming weeks.
Role of the Chair and Vice Chair - Working Together
Whilst Ofsted identifies a strong, efficient and effective Chair to be one of the core constituents of an effective Governing Body, the role of the Vice-Chair is less well defined and often an under-utilized resource on many governing bodies.
This interactive training session, using a mix of discussions, sharing of experience and good practice, will consider the roles played by both the Chair and the Vice-Chair on a governing body.
