Balclutha Primary School - T3 Wk 2
Newsletter 6 August 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia Ora e te Whānau,
Welcome to Week 2 of Term 3.
We have had a very exciting week this week with Pip and Harold from the Life Education truck on site. All the classes have had visits to the truck and are learning a range of things that will help them stay healthy and be a good friend. Pip and Harold will be with us until Monday.
Next week we have the second set of parent teacher interviews. Thank you to the parents who have booked an interview time. This is an opportunity to discuss the mid year report, and set learning goals for the second half of the year. While we have formal interviews twice a year, parents are very welcome to come in at any time to discuss concerns, or just get an update on how their child is progressing. A child's progress at school really flourishes when the teacher and parent are able to work together effectively to set goals and reinforce what is happening at home and at school.
Next Thursday, weather permitting, we will be holding our Balclutha Primary School cross country. Parents are very welcome to come along and support their children.
Have a great day,
Vicki Neave

BPS Netball Prizegiving
Balclutha Primary Netball prizegiving will be held on 12th August at 5:30pm in the school hall. Can all players please bring their uniforms to prize giving for return to Carleigh or Stacey. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Daffodil Day
Check out our "Fine Motor Skills" groups. Five participants have already completed the course!
Room 1 enjoyed their first ever visit to Harold on Wednesday! We looked at the super power of kindness and the ways we can be kind to others. We LOVED being in Harold’s classroom!

Room 2
Room 2 had two trips to visit Harold and Pip this week. For most of the class, it was our first time meeting Harold and we had lots of fun learning about being good friends.
We also finished artwork for the class to show what we did in the school holidays, so are looking forward to showing our families next week.
Room 3 loved visiting Harold this week. We learnt about being superheroes and showing kindness to others. We learnt from Harold that it is better to loan someone your strength instead of reminding them of their weakness.

Room 5 Ryan, Isabelle, Alfie and Blake, Maths thinking. Paige, Ana, Eseta, Tiana, Paris and Chloe T brain storming healthy eating foods on the food pyramid.
Room 6's chalk pastel animal art (half photo/half sketching), in varying stages of completion. We will be very excited to share the finished pieces with you in a few weeks time.
Room 12 have been enjoying watching the olympic games. The first event we watched was the mens Triathlon where Hayden Wilde won a bronze medal. We have linked the games with maths and have been comparing the athletes times.
Our senior students have been learning about the effects drugs and alcohol have on our brains. These lessons are taken in the Life Ed van with Pip … what an amazing programme
… even the teachers love Harold.
