Greetings, CCE!
There are many things to celebrate as we welcome the New Year and think about the last year! Here are some interesting things to celebrate as we reflect on 2019, according to various news sources:
1. The 116th Congress swears in the most diverse class of lawmakers including the highest number of females in US history
2. The Golden Globes honors a record number of female and diverse artists since it's inception
3. UCLA gymnast, Katelyn Ohashi, scores a perfect 10 in her floor routine
4. Scripp's Spelling Bee awards "Octo-Champs" for the first time in 94 years
5. California passes its first anti-discriminatory hair law a.k.a. "Crown Act" in schools and
employment
6. Greta Thunberg, swedish youth activist, makes history speaking at UN about global climate
concerns and is named Time's Person of the Year
7. MrBeast, youtube star, #TeamTrees sets a goal to plant 20 million trees (and reaches his $
goal)!
8. United States Women's National Soccer Team wins its 4th World Title, led by Megan Rapinoe
9. Simone Biles, 22 year-old athlete, wins her 24th World Champion Medal
10. First ever photo of a "Black Hole" released by NASA
Closing out 2019 also means closing out a decade! Let's look forward to what is to come!
Personally, these are the things that I look forward to celebrating in 2020:
1. One-year anniversary at Cottonwood Creek Elementary - Woo hoo!
2. Spring Break Trip in Utah (finger's crossed)
3. Summer Break to Plan for another amazing year with my CCE family!
4. Celebrating the end of a great "full" year at CCE & reaching our CIP goals!
5. Beginning Senior Year in the Fall with son, Christopher & Beginning High School Freshman Year with Matthew! Yikes!
No matter what your list of things to remember about 2019 are, your list is memorable for a variety of reasons that matter to you. Bring in the New Year by honoring the accomplishments in your past and look forward to the coming year and all the beauties and celebrations that it will bring!
Blessings and Happy New Year,
