Totaling $4,000 in Value

Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the nation’s largest retail bookseller and a leading retailer of content, digital media and educational products, will celebrate Spring Educator Appreciation Days, April 9-17. Barnes & Noble stores nationwide, including Barnes & Noble Sunset Valley, and Barnes & Noble.com (www.BN.com), will offer pre-K-12 public, private and homeschool educators and administrators special discounts*, events, sweepstakes and giveaways during this time. Barnes & Noble’s Educator Appreciation Days occur several times during the year, recognizing educators and providing them with an opportunity to explore the company’s vast selection of products, learn about programs and events, as well as save with deeper discounts.

This April’s Educator Appreciation Days special discount offerings are:

· 25% off list price on most books, gifts, music, DVDs and toys & games for classroom and personal purchase;

· 10% off all NOOK® by Samsung tablets**;

· 10% off all Café consumables purchases; and

· 10% off select tech tools

Plus, the first in a series of Maker activities kicks off during Educator Appreciation Days by featuring two key product demonstrations that will inspire children from K through 8th grade to learn more about the foundational concepts of coding & programing.

On Thursday, April 14th at 4:30 pm Barnes and Noble, Sunset Valley (5601 Brodie Lane, Ste. 300, Austin 78745) will host the following demonstrations:

1.) The littleBits STEAM Student Set engages a student’s natural love of play and curiosity through fun, invention-based learning using electronic building blocks. Perfectly suited for the classroom it comes with a comprehensive Teacher’s Guide to make lesson planning engaging and easy. Barnes & Noble is the exclusive brick and mortar retailer carrying the product, and during Educator Appreciation Days educators can get a sneak peek during a special advanced preview by visiting Barnes & Noble Sunset Valley to learn more. The STEAM Student Set is age-graded 8+ and will be available for preorder at Barnes & Noble during Educator Appreciation Days and in Barnes & Noble stores for sale everyday starting mid-May.

2.) Educators will also have the opportunity to experience a product demonstration of Dash Robot from Wonder Workshop during Educator Appreciation Days. Dash is a character who engages kids of all ages in the fundamentals of coding and robotics, providing fun ways to learn through Dash apps for every age group, learning level and play style.

Space will be limited for this event. Please R.S.V.P. to crm2928@bn.com if you plan to attend.

Also during Educator Appreciation Days at Barnes & Noble, educators can enter to win $4,000 worth of books from DK, the publisher of award-winning and bestselling designed and illustrated children’s books. There will be one winner nationwide, and the number and the type of books selected by DK will be based on the subject matter and the grade taught. Educators can visit Barnes & Noble and speak to a knowledgeable bookseller to find out how to enter this incredible sweepstakes.

DK will also be offering a limited quantity of special Coding Kits at Barnes & Noble stores nationwide during Educator Appreciation Days, including scratch cards, I’m a DK Coder stickers and a Coding Is a Hoot! poster, available while supplies last. Educators should check Barnes & Noble Sunset Valley for availability and to inquire about more giveaways and classroom materials provided by various publishers.

On Saturday, April 9th at 2:30 pm we will also be honoring our local My Favorite Teacher Contest winner. Drop by and meet the student who wrote the winning essay and her Favorite Teacher from Del Valle High School.

An Important Note from Lisa Palmer...

After 11 years, I am needing to move out of the quaint little home Brenham and I have lived. Please keep your eyes and ears open for a small (2 bed/1 bath kind of small) home/condo/duplex. Although we are living in-district currently, it is not necessary for us to stay in this area. I am a one income/teacher salary family. We have from now until the beginning of August to relocate. Please email me if you have suggestions/ideas. We are great tenants and I am willing to explore if I could qualify to purchase as well.

Thank you!
