February CMS Connects Guides Parents in Helping Students with 2020-2021 Course Selection

This is a reminder of an important opportunity for families.

It doesn't really seem possible when January ends each year that students, teachers, counselors, and administrators begin making plans to schedule the next school year. That time is here. Beginning the week of February 3rd, the faculty at CMS will be working with your student to begin the course selection process that will help them select classes for the 2020-2021 school year. This very important process allows administrators and counselors to make the master schedule for the new year.

In order to assist parents in guiding their students through the process, we will meet with families at our monthly CMS Connects to share forms, go through the selection process (including the online selection) and answer questions regarding classes, fees, and pathways for the next school year.

Please make every effort to attend this event. Because the competition gym is being used for community league basketball, this CMS Connects evening will be held in the school cafeteria. It will be on Monday, February 3rd at 6:00 PM. This event is only for students who are currently in grades 5, 6, and 7. The 8th grade class will participate in Focus on the Future Night at CHS on Tuesday, February 4th. All 8th grade families are highly encouraged to attend this event. We will conduct an event with the incoming 4th Grade from Bagley later in the school year.

The teams, led by Mrs. Jennifer Harris (5/6) and Mrs. Anita Wiley (7/8) have made great progress in their engineering achievement this competition season. Quote of the Week . . .

"Persevere and preserve yourselves for better circumstances."

--Virgil--

Video of the Week . . .

We continue our school focus on MINDSET. As we move through the first half of the first quarter, we here at CMS encourage our families to help us instill GRIT into your students. PERSEVERANCE. A WILL TO NEVER QUIT when things get tough academically. We saw this recently, and it rings so true. We want to help our kids understand this. "Just because you are struggling does not mean you are failing."

The video below has been shared by some before, but it still is worth a second look. Let's develop that GRIT in our kids. We can start by helping them never to quit before they ever get started.
